Our Champions for the Week:

It is amazing to see that through the UAE's aspiration for modernity, a lot of their cultural heritage has been preserved. This building of the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation is but one example. They have managed to reach out to the future without losing grasp of their past. There is a fusion of Modern and Islamic designs that focus not only on the function and geometry of the building to cater to its elements - - Learning (Library), Performance (Auditorium), and Visual Arts (Exhibition hall, rooms and open spaces).
One of the best known constructions of Otto Wagner was the Art Nouveau Pavilion on Karlsplatz that had been built in 1898. These two structures were his best examples of the Art Nouveau construction in that era. The woods were painted green and he used white marble on the exterior and adding to the design… he used a lot of trimmings on the roof as well as murals painted on the walls using sunflower design. Even the entrance doors were made from cast irons with the Jugendstil design and were painted green.
In this park there is a building like a stage that has a unique architecture where on the roof you can see unique carvings and a large symbol in the middle of the roof is one of Lampung province's cultures called Tapis. In addition, the combination of bright colors makes this building look nicer. This place is usually used for concert stages, cultural arts performances, traditional ceremonies, formal ceremonies and so on.
