Hello architecture and design friends, happy activities for all of you. Exploring historical places with different architectural style nuances is truly amazing.
Aceh is a very popular halal tourist spot. Aceh is called the city with a thousand mosques, because if you come here you will find many mosques with various designs. Interestingly, each mosque built has its own history. Even the architecture of each building has a different design from the previous mosque. This is what I believe will make you fascinated and even interested in visiting it.
A few days ago I went on a trip, which is located not far from my house. I visited one of the most popular buildings in the area where I live. I will invite you to take a walk to enjoy the beautiful architectural design of an iconic building in the community where I live, namely the Keuchiek Leumiek Mosque. This mosque is located in the city of Banda Aceh, precisely in Kampung Lamseupeung, Lueng Bata District, Banda Aceh City, Indonesia. This mosque is a mosque that was just inaugurated in 2019. Its magnificent architectural design makes it one of the most popular mosques, many local and foreign tourists who come to visit, only want to see the splendor of the architectural design of this building.
A Middle Eastern style building, with a different feel than you will usually find when you arrive here. Every architectural design such as gardens, walls, roofs and even the smallest relief is highly detailed and well thought out by the architects. The concept of a historic building that almost 100% carries a Middle Eastern theme will amaze you when you enter the courtyard of the mosque in front of the main gate. Actually this mosque is the private property of a well-known figure in Aceh, namely Haji Keuchiek Leumik, so the name of the mosque is given that name.
The mosque with an area of 3,500 meters has a large courtyard for a large parking area. It even has a main building that is specifically designed like the traditional Aceh house. This building that resembles a traditional Aceh house has various functions, one of which is as a halfway house for travelers to rest. This house has an architectural style that is very similar to the original Aceh traditional house, only the size and design have been modified to be more modern. This house has a sturdy pillar that is quite high, about 3 meters. Because of its height, the area under the house is used as a motorcycle parking area. Usually, on certain days in big events, the officers will discipline all parts of the yard.
Apart from shelters, this mosque also has other complete facilities such as spacious men's and women's toilets and even a place for ablution. The walls of this facility are covered with ceramic tiles and some places to take ablution water are provided with seats made of cement and in the form of boxes.
This sturdy mosque building with a typical Middle Eastern architectural style has a layer of paint with classic colors. This classic building has towers soaring high, with some beautiful domes. This tower has an interesting function in the Islamic religion. Usually the tower will emit an echoing sound when the call to prayer reverberates. When the time comes you will be given goosebumps by the echoes of the takbir adzan of the five daily prayers when it will arrive. Moreover, the beautiful calligraphy and relief design of the dome make it look very majestic. The walls are covered with a different interior design in every corner, which is very aesthetic. That keeps me from taking pictures of every unique part that is here. In fact, I also felt a warm atmosphere when I was in this mosque area.
The stunning natural panorama during the day and also at night in this place will spoil you. The courtyard area of the mosque which is planted with date palms makes the Middle Eastern atmosphere even more pronounced here. This date palm is also cared for quite well, even every year it always bears heavy fruit. Even I was surprised when I visited this time, they came in the middle of fruiting. Dates that used to grow in desert countries rarely thrive in my country. A miracle that I can see and feel now.
Entering the area inside the mosque, especially the prayer area, you will find an even more amazing atmosphere. The interior design of the interior area of the mosque here has a Middle Eastern feel, almost the entire area of the mosque is covered in gold so it is very elegant. Middle Eastern-style interior design with a layer of green on the front of the pulpit is truly amazing. Not only that, this red prayer rug with a mixture of gold is neatly arranged, clean and smells good so it is very comfortable. The congregation here is quiet because I came not on a prayer schedule or a special event. It also makes it easier for me to take pictures of all the interior design pieces so I can share them with you.
Right in front of the front pulpit you will see a beautiful interior design of a door made of gold lining. It looks very majestic, the door towers very high, even on the door there are very beautiful verses of the Koran. It's like handcrafted, and it's possible but I don't know for sure. But what I know is that they chose this interior design from the Middle East directly so you will find a very detailed aesthetic style from the Middle East. What I'm really curious about is whether they made it from real gold plating or just used gold ink. Until now I couldn't find the answer. What is clear is the icon of perfection of this mosque.
In addition to the design of the pulpit and golden doors that are no less amazing are the magnificent lights in this mosque, the main lights are quite large and are even connected directly to the design of the mosque's dome which is on the roof. This part of the ceiling, which is located at the bottom of the dome, is so well designed, I think they drew it perfectly. The dominant green color is very striking in other parts of the entire mosque wall. Moreover, with a gold color that is quite magnificent, symbolizing extraordinary holiness, making this place a very beautiful mosque with Middle Eastern nuances.
The pillars supporting the mosque that stand firm are also very beautiful, making me really admire this place. Even the interior area as well as the calligraphy here amazed me. It's so beautiful, you can imagine when this mosque is packed with worshipers while reciting the holy verses of the Koran or even praying, you must get goosebumps.
This Middle Eastern nuanced mosque is the most beautiful in the history of the Aceh region after the Baiturrahaman Great Mosque. So, for those of you who come to the end of Indonesia, namely Aceh, don't ever forget to stop by this mosque. Just admire the design of the great people who make this mosque look so perfect and magnificent.
