Greetings #hive and friends lovers of architecture and design, I wish you a happy day together with your loved ones, during the last few days there have been several activities in the Guaiquerí park, located in the center of the city of Cumaná, Arismendi street and I have had the opportunity to attend several of them with my friend, During the visits we have made several walks through the different areas of the park and "discovered" a monolith very close to the multipurpose court, I have been to this park several times and I had never seen this monument, in fact I thought it was part of the recovery and beautification program that is developed in the park.

Saludos #hive y amigos amantes de la arquitectura y el diseño, les deseo un feliz día en unión de sus seres queridos, durante los últimos días se han realizado varias actividades en el parque Guaiquerí, ubicado en el centro de la ciudad de Cumaná, calle Arismendi y he tenido la oportunidad de asistir a varias de ellas con mi amiga, durante las visitas hemos realizado varias caminatas por las diferentes áreas del parque y "descubrimos" un monolito muy cerca de la cancha de usos múltiples, he ido a este parque varias veces y nunca había visto este monumento, de hecho pensé que formaba parte del programa de recuperación y embellecimiento que se desarrolla en el parque.
Without wasting time I asked one of the gardeners about the monument and he explained that it was donated by a renowned sculptor of the city when the park was inaugurated in the 1970s, the sculpture is a reinforced concrete "Pliers", located Behind an artisanal kiosk and several trees around it, this represents industrialization and its transformation process in the city. The objective of the monument is to remind visitors and park staff of the importance of preserving natural spaces, as they are an important source of oxygen and fresh air, also the ideal place to enjoy contact with nature.
Sin perder tiempo le pregunté a uno de los jardineros por el monumento y me explicó que el mismo fue donado por reconocido escultor de la ciudad cuando se inauguró el parque en la década de 1970, la escultura es un "Alicate" de concreto armado, ubicado detrás de un kiosko artesanal y varios árboles a su alrededor, este representa la industrialización y su proceso de transformación en la ciudad, el objetivo del monumento es recordarle a los visitantes y personal del parque la importancia de preservar los espacios naturales, pues son una importante fuente de oxigeno y aire fresco, además el lugar ideal para disfrutar el contacto con la naturaleza.
In the monolith you can detail the screws that hold the handles of the pliers, it is seen that they did a good job, the screws look real with their well-defined lines and shape, in the center it is oval-shaped, the screws that are located in the The bottom part has an exit towards the rear, those located at the bottom have an exit upward, the largest and the smallest ones on the sides exit towards the back.
The base or support of the sculpture is circular and just like the monolith is made of concrete, definitely where you least imagine you can get a great work like this sculpture in Guaiquerí Park.
En el monolito se pueden detallar los tornillos que sujetan las asas del alicate, se ve que hicieron un buen trabajo, los tornillos parecen reales con sus líneas y forma bien definidas, en el centro tiene forma de óvalo, los tornillos que se ubican en la parte inferior tienen salida hacia la parte trasera, los ubicados en la parte inferior tienen salida hacia arriba, el más grande y los pequeños de los laterales salen hacia atrás.
La base o soporte de la escultura es circular y al igual que el monolito es de concreto, definitivamente donde menos se pueda imaginar puedes conseguir una gran obra como esta escultura en el parque Guaiquerí.

We continued our journey along the banks of the Manzanares River and on the way back we returned to see the sculpture. Personally, I was struck by the design and attention to detail, especially in the screws, the shape of the pliers and the lines. of the handles, the sculptor's work is impressive, meticulous and detailed, he paid special attention to each element of this tool that, no matter how simple it may seem, is very useful for securing the joints in the tubes and beams.
Terminada la sesión fotográfica del monumento y la conversación con el amable jardinero, mi amiga y yo recorrimos nuevamente el parque en busca de otro "descubrimiento" esta vez observamos las casas de las ardillas en las raíces de los árboles, uno de estos simpáticos animales apenas saco su cabeza y luego se ocultó, continuamos nuestro recorrido a orillas del Río manzanares y de vuelta regresamos a ver la escultura, en lo personal me llamó la atención el diseño y cuidado al detalle sobre todo en los tornillos, forma del alicate y las líneas de las asas, el trabajo del escultor es impresionante, minucioso y detallista, prestó especial atención a cada elemento de esta herramienta que por muy sencilla que parezca, es de gran utilidad para asegurar las uniones en los tubos y vigas.
The Guaiquerí park has great natural attractions such as the Manzanares River, as part of its bank covers the rear lands of the park, also creating a beautiful landscape, also abundant vegetation and large trees; chaguaramos, apamate, mango among others, which make the park a pleasant, relaxing place with shade and fresh breeze to enjoy contact with nature.
In conclusion, the pliers monument has achieved its objective, the park is more than forty years old and many spatial changes have occurred in the city, but the park is preserved as an "oasis" in the center of the city where the family can have fun and recreate outdoors, in addition the laws for the protection of the environment and natural spaces ensure the care and protection of these areas.
El parque Guaiquerí cuenta con grandes atractivos naturales como el Río Manzanares, pues parte de su ribera cubre los terrenos posteriores del parque creando además un lindo paisaje, también abundante vegetación y grandes árboles; chaguaramos, apamate, mango entre otros, que hacen del parque un lugar agradable, relajante con sombra y brisa fresca para disfrutar el contacto con la naturaleza.
En conclusión, el monumento del alicate ha logrado su objetivo, el parque tiene más de cuarenta años y muchos cambios espaciales se han dado en la ciudad, pero el parque se conserva como un "oasis" en el centro de la ciudad donde la familia puede divertirse y recrearse al aire libre, además las leyes de protección del ambiente y espacios naturales velan por el cuidado y protección de estas áreas.
