Every year, Cuba holds an international music industry fair called Cubadisco, whose main objective is to award the best albums produced by national record labels in all musical genres, with nominations in different categories. This great event is known throughout the country as "Cuba's record party".
This year, the opening gala that officially opens the contest to be held from May 12 to 19, was held at the Cetro events hall, and today I share with you a little of the decoration used in it, which I found very unique.
En Cuba se celebra cada año la feria internacional de la industria musical llamada Cubadisco, que tiene como principal objetivo premiar los mejores álbumes producidos por las casas disqueras nacionales en todos los géneros musicales, nominando en diferentes categorías. Ese gran evento es conocido en todo el país como "la fiesta del disco en Cuba".
Este año, la gala inicial que abre oficialmente el certamen a efectuarse del 12 al 19 de mayo, se celebró en la sala de eventos Cetro, y hoy les comparto un poco de la decoración usada en el mismo, que me pareció muy singular.
This time Cubadisco is dedicated to Cuban country music, so the event gives prestige to the best of our traditions, because even the Cuban Punto is part of the intangible heritage of humanity. It seems to me an appropriate selection to enhance this musical genre that has such a catchy rhythm, as we say in "good Cuban".
I was very excited because I had never had the chance to see, first hand, this kind of activity. I liked the promotional poster of the festival, placed for the artists to take pictures, where the logos of all the cultural institutions that participate in the event were displayed, as well as others that intervene as sponsors. The design of the logo of the event is a waste of creativity: it shows the image of a faceless woman holding the corners of a large colorful outfit, which in my opinion could be any Cuban woman, with a typical dress that ends with the shape of a disc.
En esta oportunidad el Cubadisco está dedicado a la música campesina cubana, así que el evento prestigia lo mejor de nuestras tradiciones, porque incluso el Punto cubano constituye patrimonio inmaterial de la humanidad. Me parece una selección adecuada realzar este género musical que tiene un ritmo tan pegajoso, como decimos en "buen cubano".
Yo estaba muy entusiasmada porque nunca había tenido la posibilidad de ver, de primera mano, este tipo de actividad. Me gustó el poster promocional del festival, colocado para que los artistas se tomaran fotografías, donde estaban los logos de todas las instituciones culturales que participan en el certamen, además de otras que intervienen como patrocinadores. El diseño del logo del evento es un derroche de creatividad: muestra la imagen de una mujer sin rostro sosteniendo las esquinas de un gran atuendo de colores, que desde mi opinión puede ser cualquier mujer cubana, con un vestido típico que termina con la forma de un disco.
The decoration of the entrance of the hall was very original, because it imitated a common scene of the Cuban countryside, with elements that are very autochthonous such as the basket of fresh seasonal fruits, the stool, the musical instrument known as the tres and the classic Cuban bohío.
A scene very similar to the entrance design was also present on the stage set up for the event. Although I didn't manage to take a picture of them, the service attendants were wearing the typical hats of our fields.
La decoración de la entrada del salón era muy original, porque se imitaba una escena común de los campos cubanos, con elementos que son muy autóctonos como la cesta de frutas frescas de temporada, el taburete, el instrumento musical conocido como el tres y el clásico bohío cubano.
Una escena muy similar al diseño de la entrada también estaba presente en el escenario dispuesto para el evento. Les cuento además, que aunque no alcancé a tomarles foto, los dependientes de servicio estaban usando los sombreros típicos de nuestros campos.
The hall was prepared for more than 200 guests from the art world. The tables were covered with elegant orange tablecloths and the chairs with black "dresses". The cutlery set-up was simple. In the center of each table, in addition to a small clay pot, there was a plate with several portions of Cascorro peanuts, which is a delicious dessert that is popularly called this way because in that region of the country they made it in a masterful way.
El salón quedó preparado para más de 200 invitados del mundo del arte. Las mesas estaban cubiertas con elegantes manteles color naranja y las sillas con "vestidos" negros. La monta de cubertería era sencilla. En el centro de cada una de estas, además de una pequeña maceta de barro, había un plato de con varias raciones de maní de Cascorro, que es un delicioso postre que se nombra popularmente de esta forma porque en esa región del país lo elaboraban de forma magistral.
I observed every detail carefully: there was also a stage prepared for the presentation of several musical groups of high call, and even the instruments were colored with the colors of the national insignia.
Observé cada detalle con detenimiento: había también un escenario preparado para la presentación de varias agrupaciones musicales de alta convocatoria, y e incluso los instrumentos tenían matizados los colores de la insignia nacional.
One of the spaces that I liked the most is the corner I show you below, which although it did not have any design element in place for the celebration of the event, I felt that it is one of the most beautiful areas, and that it integrated perfectly. It has a gray lounge sofa in the shape of a letter L and a painting with the Cuban flag at different levels. The most spectacular thing: the view of the sea that can be enjoyed from there.
Uno de los espacios que más me gustó es la esquina que les muestro a continuación, que aunque no tenía ningún elemento de diseño colocado por la celebración del evento, sentí que es una de las áreas más lindas, y que se integraba perfectamente. Esta tiene un sofá lounge gris en forma de letra L y un cuadro con la bandera cubana a diferentes niveles. Lo más espectacular: la vista al mar que se puede disfrutar desde ahí.
