A charm that will not be forgotten by time : the charm of Pagaruyung Palace

Indonesia used to be a country with many small kingdoms in each region. The sultanate system was still very strong at that time, but after Indonesia became independent, Indonesia also adopted a republic system. However, many regions still adhere to the Kingdom system today but are subject to the regulations of the government of the Republic of Indonesia and the existence of these palaces is still highly preserved and their descendants are still highly respected today in the midst of society. Like the Maimoon Palace in North Sumatra, specifically in the city of Medan, like that, when I visited West Sumatra, there were several King's palaces which are still preserved and are cultural heritage sites and can be enjoyed by the public.

In contrast to the Maimoon Palace, although the interior design of the building is very thick with Malay customs, we can see the modern design there, but at the Paguruyung Palace, the impression is classic with all the stories hidden in it, making the aura of this building very different from all the palaces. king in the area I have visited. And if you ask whether this palace is still active now, the answer is no, the Pagaruyung Palace is open to the public as a service to the community and how the palace lived in ancient times.

Visiting Pagaruyung Palace, I will show you several aspects of the building design

1. Viewed from the front
Pagaruyung Palace from the front is very magnificent with a classic design typical of West Sumatra. The characteristic of this building is its tapered roof with the same number of 3 on the right and left sides and in the middle there is 1 small piece each which indirectly resembles this design. resembles the head of a buffalo, the pride of the people of West Sumatra. And if you see there are no modern elements there, the roof is still made of thatch leaves, so a lot of moss grows there due to the cold weather that accompanies it and when we enter the palace we will be greeted with funny clowns, don't forget to immortalize take a photo with them and give a little pocket money..he..he
Starting from entering the entrance, we have to start climbing the stairs to the second floor and you can see for yourself how beautiful the carvings are in the form of creeping flowers with bold, calm colors. Fills the front wall to the roof of the building. And if you look at the many types of ceilings nowadays. At the Pagarutung Palace, the Palvons are still made of bamboo which are painted white to make them more durable and for going up to the second and third floors, all the stairs still use very sturdy wood and are varnished with natural wood color.

2. Viewed from the side
When viewed from the side, this building is not much different from the design in front of the palace, it is made of wood surrounded by flower carvings and it is made by hand, the workmanship is very neat and detailed, unlike modern buildings which use wallpaper that you just stick on. just glue. If you look closely, how beautiful this simple building is with its carvings as if it were a living flower. The wallpaper we are now looking at is of low value compared to this

3. Second floor
Entering the second floor where the floor is still made of wood, what we can see are the supporting pillars made of wood which are still very simple, then on the second floor there are many thrones for Royal members and Royal guests, lights that decorate the building. This is also very classic and shows the age of the building. Not only that, on the second floor we will also find some very aesthetic furniture, starting from wardrobes, luggage chests and trash cans that are like clothes baskets.

4. Third floor
And on the 3rd floor we can see collections of equipment that were previously used in this palace and its people and at the back of the room which is still on the 3rd floor we can also see the bed of the king's daughter there which is still well maintained to this day.

5. Palace courtyard
Because the courtyard of the king's palace is very large, the community empowers him to sell typical West Sumatra merchandise

And I almost forgot to get into this palace we have to buy a ticket of IDR. 5000. And I forgot to ask whether tickets for adults are the same as tickets for children. And when visiting the king's palace, we can not only enjoy the interior and exterior design of the building, but we can also see the beautiful natural views of the king's palace as well as the very cool air that makes us feel at home for a long time in the place. So, if you want to travel to West Sumatra, make sure you come to this place as your tourist destination. Greetings from Maytom, Indonesia

With great pleasure dear @maytom. We are always happy to support you and thank you as well for doing the same. Enjoy! 😀

I am very impressed by this type of buildings because in my city I do not find places with roofs like that, I think they are very specific in other cultures. It would really be for me a mandatory tourist visit 😄.

Thank you for visiting @indipnash91

When I visited South Cotabato in the southern part of our country (it has a lot of Muslim population in the Philippines), I saw a similar building, but the one you visited looks grander and more impressive.

Wow, Philippines, I have never visited this country @glecerioberto

I really miss Pagaruyung, the last visit was 10 years ago! I once stayed in a tent, right behind the 'rumah gadang'😆

wow what an amazing experience.. it was definitely fun with all the sundries @aswita

Hi @maytom, what an interesting building, I liked the design of the roof and the walkways, I think I would spend several hours looking at the mountain; the view of the surroundings is spectacular and the photographs are beautiful, what an interesting history of this kingdom.

Greetings!

you are right and not only that, but the food here is also delicious and the price is less than 1 dollar @belkyscabrera

Greetings @maytom, From any angle, it can be said that it is a building that beautifully displays the Indonesian culture that brings exceptional beauty. Especially the strange shape and decoration on the roof stole my heart. Architectural features with various carvings on the upper floors were seen in this content tour. The beauty of the surrounding mountains can also be seen from above.

You are right and there will be many miracles there when you visit @madushanka
