The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge is West Africa's first cable-stayed bridge, emblem of the financial metropolis of Lagos. Julius Berger International was responsible for the architectural design, finding the optimal location, and fully planning the design and execution.

In addition, our team of specialists organized the procurement of all materials and carried out the construction planning as well as the static calculations of the construction levels for this technically demanding project. The bridge connects the Lekki and Ikoyi districts and was absolutely essential in relieving some of its load from the existing bridges.

Julius Berger International designed the main bridge in segment construction and the beach bridge in panel construction: the 2x2-lane main bridge is 635 meters long and has an impressive 90-meter-high pylon in the middle, which 'it supports the sections of the adjacent bridge by means of steel cables. The spans between the pillars of the bridge measure up to 112 meters. Two access bridges were built on both sides next to the main bridge, with a total length of 722 meters. A toll booth was installed in one of these entrances and the access was extended to convert it to 2x3 lanes.

The geometric complexity of the bridge structure combined with the use of predominantly precast concrete elements forced our design engineers to pay the utmost attention to every detail throughout the project.

A challenge that they took up and mastered with resounding success!
