RYUKO COFFEE

Hi architect friends, how are you all doing? How is your new year going? I hope this year brings you much happiness.
It seems that coffee shops are popping up everywhere these days, due to everyone's interest in coffee and other popular beverages. So it's not difficult to find a cafe, even near my home.

Like the place I want to tell you about, this cafe is only 5 minutes from my house and office, but it seems that many people still don't know about this place even though they have put up a large banner. This is because this place is located in a shop house that is dominated by company warehouses. So the general public doesn't know about this place.

I already knew about Ryko Coffee when I came to a music concert, as they had a tenant there.
From the front, this place is easily recognizable with its large blue sign and a box with LED lights and Japanese kanji letters. Yes, this cafe has a Japanese theme. Near the door handle, there is a sticker of two children wearing hats.

According to the staff here, the name Ryuko itself was inspired by the owner's children, Ryu and Mikko. Isn't that adorable?
Upon entering the room, you will immediately see the cashier bar and the barista's area for making drinks. On the wall shelves, besides plants, there are also two photos of small children who are the children of the cafe owner.

The room is dominated by soft wood colors, while the white and cream vinyl adds to the calm atmosphere, complemented by melodious music.

To the left of the door, there are two sets of tables and chairs, where the chairs used are modern teak chairs with curves, with tables covered in cream-colored vinyl, matching the room's decor. The floor of this cafe also uses wood-textured vinyl with a darker color.

Meanwhile, in front, there is a minimalist zaburo dining set with a natural wood finish. This dining set looks minimalist and elegant and is very suitable for this cafe, which looks different from other Japanese cafes that I rarely encounter.
These two sets of tables are only separated by wooden dividers to separate seating area 1 from the others.
And under the seats, there is a drawer to store our shoes so as not to disturb other visitors.
Meanwhile, on the side, there are two imitation bonsai trees placed there, along with white pebbles.

In addition to regular lighting, the owner has added lanterns to create an authentic feel and ensure the lighting is not too bright.

I think the addition of a large wall shelf is a good idea, as it does not detract from the café's design. The shelf is filled with café merchandise, allowing visitors to browse items created by the owner. I find this merchandise very cute.

Because this place is not very spacious, there are not many seats available, only 5 sets of tables inside the room. However, the owner did not only set up inside the room, there is also an outdoor area if visitors do not want to sit inside. Outside, there is only a long bar table with several chairs, and a small round table with teak chairs that are the same as the chairs inside the room.

At this cafe, I tried the matcha latte and the onigiri. This is one of the matcha lattes I wanted—not too milky and with a stronger matcha flavor.

Alright, that’s all I have to say. I think I’ll come here occasionally to work because the atmosphere here is quite peaceful.
See you in my next post! :)
