Let's go for a walk in Caracas

And about the photography group. Ideal to create these moments of connection with my city and new people. Today I bring you the most extensive route we did: the walk through various places in downtown Caracas.

Caracas is a place that definitely gives emotions. Not for nothing I think it is a chaotically beautiful place. In the same environment, historical places merge with the dynamics of a capital that, although I know it lacks a lot to be a cosmopolitan and modern city, it makes its attempts.

Beautiful and clean places are combined with many others that are messy, dirty and even repulsive. Yes, you can find that in my city, especially in the center of Caracas. It is strange that in a few blocks we can find historical parks, old urban complexes, neighborhoods, dirt, order, government offices (most of them are in the center of Caracas), in short, you can find everything.

The professional photographers, having sophisticated and very expensive equipment, prefer to make routes, in the security that the herd offers them. That reminds me of the National Geographic programs, which offers us the most unexpected moments where the herd or shoal go together offering safety, however, the stragglers are overtaken by predators. Well, the same applies in downtown Caracas.

The route we took started at El Calvario Park, one of the first parks built in the city back in 1873, in celebration of the city's first aqueduct. That is, the park was built as a promenade to the aqueduct. By the way, at that time Caracas received only 11 liters of water per second, after the inauguration of the aqueduct, it began to receive 100 liters per second.

Our tour had a slight encounter with one of the oldest urbanizations of Caracas "El Silencio", built around the middle of the twentieth century. It is said that its name is due to the fact that there was such a strong plague in the place that many people died. There were so many dead that there was no one to ring the church bells and the only thing that reigned in the place was El Silencio.

Next we came across the Simon Bolivar Center and its two iconic towers, the tallest in Caracas for a long time until they were lowered from their throne by the Central Park Towers. Although truth be told, those towers are not very tall. By the way, most of the Caracas courts and other government offices are located there. Unfortunately it is a place that despite its architectural beauty is in a considerable state of abandonment. It is scary to walk through its internal corridors unaccompanied. I did not do it, I walked along the outside streets.

Then we began our tour to the Plaza Bolivar. A place that definitely if they have care and beautiful, as well as the Boulevard El Panteon that led us to our final destination The Plaza del Panteon Nacional. It is a street lined with trees and old houses. A nice cool and pleasant walk.

Thank You so much

Wow, it must be quite an experience to visit all these places in a photography group, because it certainly is not easy to use those expensive equipment with the danger that thieves bring. But look, you brought very nice pictures of the architectural wonders of Caracas. I am struck by what you mentioned about the Simón Bolivar center and its towers, certainly it must be quite an experience to walk around there and see such an imposing place.

Hi, thank you, I'm just an amateur photographer who is lucky when I capture good images. I really need to buy a cell phone with a better camera. The Simon Bolivar Center is very nice, although extremely neglected.

Greetings friend, what beautiful pictures, definitely the city of Caracas has beautiful places to visit, my favorite part is the Bolivar square and its surroundings, there are important and great buildings like the cathedral of Caracas.
