Dry ice is the protagonist- El Hielo seco es el protagonista

Hi friends

Today I present the new technique that they will use to recover something very important to us.
Important and at the same time very neglected in years.

Begoña Point

Hola amigos

The Punta Begoña gallery is from 1921

Specially made to contain the mountain, instead of a conventional wall, the architect Ricardo Bastida
He decided that it would be better to have a viewpoint to the sea and the entrance of the estuary for everyone to enjoy and look at the iron mines, since the one who commissioned the works was a rich industrialist dedicated to iron mines and wanted to see the entire empire of he.

Since I was little, I always remember him abandoned and without much to look at, although when we walked through Getxo, which is very often, it always caused pain.

This entry is not to show you the ruins that were once the favorite place for people to walk through it, but because the news is spreading like wildfire.

There have always been many projects for these remnants from another era, but none came to fruition or even got them started.

But now, this seems to lead to a good reconstruction and to value what history leaves us.

So I have learned a new technique, well, it is not new, but for me, it does not know that it existed.

So I started to investigate and the truth is that I was amazed.
He finished cleaning the facades with sandblasting and, due to great care and delicacy, he always degraded the details of the facades with his blast.
Dry ice is the protagonist.

IMGP6217 copia.jpg

As I tell you, it is new to me.

The work with an investment of 960,361 euros in a year-long works that will end in June 2022.
The advantages of this method are that it does not degrade the façade or have remains and as I have read there is an architectural rule of "minimal intervention to achieve maximum respect.

The system is similar to sandblasting, but this time the ingredients change. The jet on this occasion is made of dry ice particles, which are called "pellets" formed by CO2, the diameter of the pellets is projected 3 mm away, this makes it go from a solid state to a gaseous state without having time to do it. liquid and thus there are no remains and the most important thing does not damage the moldings or the small details of the building.

It also has the advantage over other techniques that since it does not have water, there can be no circuit breakers and as sand does not degrade the surface.

Machinery also counts and in this technique a compressor and something else is minimal.
Haha I say that but it sure is more complicated.

The truth is that we are delighted that this method is used for a lake that has long been abandoned, where the ladies and gentlemen enjoyed the view, where they socialized and shared their things.

We can also thank that for years we have prioritized our architecture and we want to recover it.
Which before politicians and leaders did not give importance.
All ancient architecture tells us who we are, the entire trajectory of a people, our way of admiring the world and of being.
What we were and what we will be.
I don't know what the building would say if it could speak, it might have seemed like torture to him or he would be delighted as if he would get into a spa.
That you enter with body aches and after baths and massages you are like new.
Now abandoned and then full of people admiring it and saying how beautiful it is.
When it is finished I will show you,
The truth is that by sharing the entries with you, I learn a lot of things, some I do not understand, but I do appreciate everything that architects do to improve life for all of us.

hello thank you very much for the support
no time to answer
but one day we will walk through that place and laugh

It is always gratifying news, to see how buildings and constructions from another era are recovered, which undoubtedly always enrich the architectural heritage of cities and to see how increasingly modern techniques are used, less aggressive and better aimed at achieving a good cleaning and genuine maintenance. Interesting proposal to start the day.

Feliz jueves

Hi Juankar, you are right, the new techniques make everything more professional.
I hear ice and my body starts to shake, you know that I'm cold,
Hopefully it will be restored soon and you will see it in all its splendor
It is good to treasure our buildings and preserve them for generations to come
Happy Thursday

Amazing one

end of quote. Spectacular! truly a brilliant idea for a viewpoint (1921) a hundred years ago ... The truth is that the Architect, Ricardo Bastida, was an advanced man for his time. It is a pity that they have not followed his example, at least here in Venezuela, until now I have not seen a work of that style. Here they prefer a cold and ugly wall, nothing decorative and of little use. I really liked it a lot, in addition to the technique used with sand to renovate the work. Thanks for posting such interesting content. God bless you always.

I think this strucutute if restored will look great. It is sad to see such a beautiful architectural piece to be vanalized like that.

hello if you are right for ancient architecture, it was dark times
Now it seems that we already give value and try to take care of them Happy Friday friend

Happy Friday to you too my friend.

Hello @txatxy, extremely interesting info you've shared here about sandblasting with dry ice particles to restore this old edifice.

"I don't know what the building would say if it could speak, it might have seemed like torture to him or he would be delighted as if he would get into a spa."

I wouldn't have thought about it but your witty observation made me wonder how the building felt during the cleaning process. Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead!

Hello friend, I take a moment that I have free to comment
I put almost everything I go and feelings.
on the one hand I would be delighted to be handsome and beautiful,
but here's a saying:
to show off you have to suffer hahaha
When the work is done I will show you, it is like going through the cosmetic surgeon hahaha
happy friday friend

Wow! that's some interesting and never heard before technique of dry ice blasting from machinery. Your keen observation of the structure is commendable. I was intrigued by learning the process of ice blasting.
Have a wonderful weekend:)

Hello friend, I hadn't heard it either and that's why I was surprised and started to investigate. It's good these new techniques that repeat the integrity of the building
Happy Friday

I thought that only in the countries of the former USSR, multi-storey buildings are being built next to architectural monuments, but the world around us is very similar, with all its diversity).
Wonderful architecture and less wonderful description of this monument.

Hello, my city is a mass of constructions of all times, I suppose very similar to yours.
Europe is what has a lot of history and many abandoned buildings within large cities
Happy day

Hello, friend @txatxy. Your beautiful post is certainly an interesting way to portray an architectural story. Thank you also for talking to us about this interesting sandblasting technique of buildings with dry ice. Apologies for my late comment as I was busy with important responsibilities in real life. Have an awesome week ahead! 😊

Hello @storiesoferne

I understand you perfectly, life does not give for everything and I hope that everything will be resolved for the better
Many times it happens to me that with work and family life I have little time to answer and keep up with all my friends, but we cannot unfold or make clones hehe
So don't worry
Take life patiently

Thank you for your great advice. Take care and best regards friend!
