Here I am presenting the architecture of the great square in Brussels.
This trip was years ago, it always rained and that day we had to visit her.
Can you believe that the first thing that caught my attention? is that there were many people and between his legs you could see color.
We did not know what day it was and of course it was a special day.
Where the floor was covered with a beautiful flower carpet designed with great care.
This tradition dates back to 1971. Landscape architect E. Stautemans was the first to create the tradition once a year and it was exactly on that day.
Using approximately 300 Begoña per square meter and its extension is 77 by 24 meters.
Currently the designers are an association "Tapis de Fleurs".
But before the beauty of the Begonias and the color you just have to look up, that is another world we go back to the seventeenth century.
The square is the most important in architecture in Europe
All but the town hall are renovated since the French in 1695 with their cannons destroyed the surrounding buildings
First the town hall, this is to spend hours and hours observing it in a gothic style (my favorite style)
Created in the 15th century when Belgium and the Netherlands were enjoying incredible prosperity.
A large building with several floors in the lower part of the porticoes that were used as a market, the facade is long and in the middle the bell tower that was intended to alert citizens to all the news.
The façade is decorated with numerous statues representing nobles, saints and allegorical figures. Today they are replicas since the originals are in museums.
But can you imagine making 150 figures all different and all with their character?
The entire construction took 70 years with all the guilds that you can imagine, it also had several architects throughout its construction
Jacob Van Thienen. With the help of Jean Bornoy and G. Vander Broecke they developed the left wing between 1402 and 1420.
It remained this way until 1444, when Duke Charles I of Burgundy ordered Guillaume de Voguel to design the right wing and the Aula Magna. This part was completed in 1452. Alongside her, another architect, Jean van Ruysbroeck, worked on the majestic 96-meter high tower
So we cannot say that it was only one, but they all followed the same line and created great beauty.
The house of the king of Spain
In baroque style located to the west today it is a very busy cafeteria, it was the headquarters of the bakery guild,
It seems that all the buildings are very close together so you have to be attentive to all the details that we have around
The House of the King of Spain is the only house on the Grand Place whose façade is not crowned by a triangular-shaped gable so seen in these images, instead it has a balustrade with statues of characters from ancient mythology (Mercury, Hercules, etc. .) and an octagonal tower-lantern.
It is seen far away and we can hardly appreciate it, the camera was 2 megapixel so it was not possible to appreciate certain details.

A neo-gothic building that in its construction was for King Louis XVI, great parties were held and it was all greatness.
Its building is preserved in very good condition and it seems that its entire façade is made of lace by the filigree of the stone that the master stonemason made
Swan Cafe
Karl Marx lived for three years in Brussels and attended this café, the languages say that here I create his manifesto that many of you will know by its name Communist Manifesto.
But all the creators of any style met there, they said that it was a free place for creation and ideas.
All this and much more contain this square.
It was a very illustrative trip in architecture and history and arriving at the right moment also in nature and design.
Although my face is a little strange and annoyed, it was a vacation that was raining every day and a lot, since for me the rain is almost our way of life, it was a bit annoying.
But everything surpassed this beautiful architecture of distant times, of great fortunes and centuries of prosperity.

Fue un viaje para recordar y repetir, la arquitectura te trasporta a otra época. Donde las espadas eran las armas y caso parece que merlin saldra a la ventana a ver un torneo de caballeros. Con las damas y los reyes aclamando.

hi thanks for stopping by. The flowers are begonias and they are resistant to cold and rain and the Netherlands is the nursery of flowers in Europe, they say that they last 4 days in full state

70 Years of construction have bought such a marvellous structure indeed. The intricate details are fascinating. The pictures are amazing, I just love that swan and all those high towers with little sculptures. The façade is incredible.

I love Brussels and that square. I've heard of it but I've never seen the flower tapestry though. Thats so cool. Its beautiful.
