Hey Shadowhunters! We only have a few weeks left in the year, and I still have a lot of things to do, including putting up the Christmas tree and the nativity scene. But taking care of my mom hasn't left me enough time. I've had to make breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which leaves me very little time for other things, and when I do have time, I'm so tired I end up falling asleep, only to wake up and repeat the process. This time, I had to make an emergency trip to the Faculty. I had to advise on a thesis project, and I could only see this student between 12 and 1 pm since my schedule was quite tight.
The meeting with the student was quite quick. They did a very competent job, so there were very few corrections. Our meeting was in the covered plaza of the Dean's Office of Sciences, a place that, although covered, isn't completely enclosed, so its natural light makes it quite comfortable to read, study, or, in this case, evaluate a thesis project. I had nothing more to do there, so I had to get home soon to start making lunch, but just as I was walking out to the parking lot to unlock the car, I noticed the shadow I'd been missing! A wide shadow that stretched across the entire entrance of the dean's office, and that's what I wanted to share with you today in this round #403 of the Smash contest.

I had brought my camera to capture potential shadows along the way, but I didn't find anything interesting or that conveyed anything particular. But when I turned around and saw the shadow of the covered plaza, it was clear that this was the shadow I had to capture with my phone's camera. This part of the dean's office was designed as a miniature replica of the Great Covered Plaza of the rector's office, a large space that is covered but as open as a plaza. In this case, the small covered plaza casts these wide shadows due to the concrete roof that extends beyond the plaza itself, continuing along the corridors that connect to the various schools, such as chemistry, biology, computer science, and the electron microscopy center. This particular shadow is projected onto the access ramp to the administration building, and the truck you see in the background belongs to the Dean of the Faculty. I love how it looks because it covers the entire access ramp almost uniformly. Since it was already past 1 pm, the shadow appears slanted, but right at noon, it completely covers the ramp. However, I think that if I had photographed that shadow at that time, I wouldn't have been able to capture the contrast between light and shadow that is achieved at 1 pm.

Que tal amigos cazadores de sombras! Ya nos quedan pocas semanas para terminar el año y aun tengo muchas tareas pendientes, entre ellas armar el arbolito y también el pecebre pero los cuidados de mi madre no me han dejado el tiempo suficiente, me ha tocado hacer el desayuno, almuerzo y cena, lo que me deja muy poco tiempo para hacer otras cosas y cuando lo tengo estoy tan cansado que terino dormido solo para levantarme y repetir el proceso. Esta vez tuve que ir de emergencia a la Facultad, tenía que hacer una asesoría de un proyecto de tesis y solo podía atender este estudiante entre las 12 a 1 pm de la tarde ya que mi agenda estaba bastante ajustada.
La reunión con el estudiante fue bastante rápida, hizo un trabajo bastante competente por lo que las correcciones fueron muy pocas, nuestra reunión fue en la plaza cubierta del Decanato de Ciencias un lugar que aunque cubierta ciertamente no esta completamente cerrada así que su iluminación natural lo convierten en un sitio bastante cómodo para leer, estudiar o en este caso evaluar un proyecto de tesis. Ya no tenía nada más que hacer allí así que tenia que volver pronto a casa para comenzar hacer el almuerzo, pero justo cuando ya estaba saliendo al estacionamiento a abrir el auto me di cuenta de la sombra que me había estado perdiendo! Una amplia sombra que se extendía en toda la entrada del decanato y que es la que hoy he querido compartirles en esta ronda #403 del concurso Smash.

Justo había llevado mi cámara para capturar potenciales sombras en el camino pero no encontraba nada interesante o que transmitiera algo particular, pero cuando di la vuelta y vi la sombra de la plaza cubierta tanía claro que esta era la sombra que tenía que capturar con la cámara de mi móvil. Esta parte del decanato se hizo como una replica en miniatura de la Gran Plaza Cubierta del rectorado, un amplio espacio que se encuentra techado pero es tan abierto como una plaza. En este caso la pequeña plaza cubierta genera estas amplias sombras por el techado de concreto que se extiende más allá de la plaza, pues se continúa a lo largo de los pasillos que conectan con las distintas escuelas como las de química, biología, computación y el centro de microscopía electrónica. Pero esta sombra en particular se proyecta sobre la rampa de acceso hacia el rectorado y la camioneta que vez al fondo es la que pertenece al Decano de la facultad, me encanta como se ve porque cubre casi de forma uniforme toda la rampa de acceso, como ya era más de la 1 pm se ve la sombra inclinada pero justo cuando son las 12 del medio día cubre por completo la rampa, pero creo que si hubiera tomado la fotografía de esa sombra a esa hora no habría logrado obtener el contraste entre luz y sombra que si se consigue a la 1 pm.
Bien amigos, con esto culmino mi participación en el smash de esta semana, no quería dejar pasar esta semana sin dejar mi aporte a esta acogedora comunidad y este maravilloso concurso, nos estamos viendo la próxima semana donde estaré tratando de conseguir alguna sombra de carácter navideño, quizás mientras armo mi arbolito en casa o colocando los adornos.
