Hello again Shadow Hunters community! With Halloween just hours away and October drawing to a close, I wanted to share a reflection for this #243 Reflection Hunters contest. It brought back memories of my high school days. It's this urban bridge or overpass in the heart of Caracas, known as the Armed Forces Overpass.
Just as I was heading to the largest shopping mall in downtown Caracas, I had to pass by this street parallel to the overpass and came across this building with large, dark windows that offered a wonderful reflection—not so much of the overpass itself, but of the activities happening right beneath it. If you look closely, you'll see a major avenue running beneath the overpass. That's Urdaneta Avenue, which crosses the entire center of Caracas from east to west. It's the main artery if you want to reach the historic center, so it's always a busy place, with people waiting for transportation and street vendors. All sorts of colorful characters have emerged in this space, becoming icons of the area. There are also businesses that have managed to survive the passage of time and remain like time capsules, preserving the style of the 1950s when this concrete and asphalt overpass was built.

The overpass is over 270 meters long, and beneath its columns, there's a whole bohemian culture, especially for those of us who love books. In the reflection in the second photograph on the left, you can see a shop that sells books. Most of them sell very old books, but they're truly interesting, which is why I'm glad I captured its reflection! They take me back to my high school days when I spent endless hours reading and looking for books to read; I think it was in those spaces where I cultivated my passion for history.

Hola de nuevo comunidad de Shadow Hunters A pocas horas del Halloween y el final del mes de Octubre he querido compartirles para este concurso #243 de Reflection Hunters un reflejo que me trajo recuerdos de cuando estaba en secundaria, se trata de este puente o elevado urbano en pleno centro de Caracas conocido como el elevado de la Fuerzas Armadas.
Justo cuando iba camino al centro comercial más grande que tiene el centro de Caracas tuve que pasar por esta calle paralela al elevado y me encontré con este edificio de grandes ventanales oscuro y que daba un reflejo maravilloso no tanto del elevado per sé, sino de las actividades que sucedían justo debajo de él. Si se fijan bien debajo del elevado pasa una gran avenida, esa es la Avenida Urdaneta que atraviesa todo el centro de Caracas de este a oeste, es la principal arteria si quieres llegar al centro histórico, así que siempre es un lugar concurrido, gente esperando el transporte y vendedores ambulante, en ese espacio han surgido toda clase de personajes pintorescos que se han convertido en íconos de ese espacio, también locales que han logrado sobrevivir al paso del tiempo y se mantienen como capsulas del tiempo, ya que conservan el estilo de los años 50 cuando se levantó este elevado de concreto y asfalto.

La extensión de ese elevado es más de 270 metros y debajo de sus columnas hay toda una cultura bohémica sobre todo para los que somos amantes de los libros, en el reflejo de la segunda fotografía a la izquierda se observa un local donde se venden libros, la mayoría de ellos venden libros muy viejos, pero realmente interesantes, por eso me alegro haber capturado su reflejo! Me retrotraen a mis tiempos de secundaria cuando pasaba interminables horas leyendo y buscando libros que leer, creo que fue en esos espacios donde cultive mi pasión por la historia.
Bien amigos, este fue mi reflejo de la semana, un reflejo que captura el día a día de mi desordenada ciudad, siempre vibrante y lleno de lugares con historias que contar. Nos vemos en el próximo concurso, mis estimados, buena fortuna!
