Reflection Hunters Contest Round 138 - Lake Brienz, The Turquoise Gem

Hello Reflection Hunters. Welcome to the RefCon or the Reflection Hunters Contest hosted by @olgavita. This is now Round 138 and if you haven't yet heard of this competition you can check the contest post here.

In August this year my daughter visited Switzerland. The main purpose of the trip was to visit the mountainous Swiss Alps in the area known as the Jungfrau region. Since it was still summer, the mountains were without snow and were green with trees and vegetation. Before going up to the mountains a breathtaking lake awaited them at the base. This was Lake Brienz, the turquoise gem.

Lake Brienz ( German: Brienzersee) is a lake just north of the Alps, in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It has a length of about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi), a width of 2.8 kilometres (1.7 mi) and a maximum depth of 260 metres (850 ft). Its area is 29.8 square kilometres (11.5 sq mi); the surface is 564 metres (1,850 ft) above the sea-level. Wikipedia

Lake Brienz is one of the deepest and most beautiful lakes in Switzerland. It is famous for its surreal turquoise waters which it owes to the sediment particles that are brought into the lake by glacial waters from Lütschine and the Aare river. Another reason why the color of the lake is so surreal is also partly because the lake is so incredibly clean.

Photo below shows how Lake Brienz look like atop the Brienzer Rothorn, a mountain of the Emmental Alps, in Switzerland. It has an elevation of 2,350 metres (7,710 ft) above sea level and is the highest summit of the range. Instead of taking the steam train to the top, my daughter and her group opted to hike to the top. The experience and the view was incomparable.
