Hello Shadow Hunters! Let's all welcome ourselves to another Round of this very challenging contest hosted by @annephilbrick. It is Round 31 and if you haven't tried this contest out that's 31 weeks of fun you have missed. Join us if you haven't yet. Read all about it in the link here.
For this Round I am featuring some reflections and shadows from a beach excursion my family had a few years ago when Covid was not yet around. This was at a beach resort in Samal Island, Costa Marina. The resort is actually on an island just across our city and can be reached by taking a 15 minute trip on a motorized boat. We left at about 9 in the morning and stayed upto closing time of the day tour which is at 5 in the afternoon.
Let me start off with this photo, which was taken towards the end of the excursion while we were waiting for the boat ride to take us across the channel to the city.
The land seen at the top of the photo is Davao City and that's the sea our boat passes to bring us across. I kinda like the way the sun's reflection appears to be twinkling and dancing on the sea's surface.
The photo below is the boat that we rode on. It seats 21 passengers comfortably and is equipped with life vests and rings. This was taken just right after the boat arrived and docked at the resort's pier.
This is the walkway that leads to the entrance of the Resort, after disembarking from the boat. It's about 120 meters long, lined with colorful banners to give it a festive atmosphere.
The photo below is a partial view of the resort as seen from the walkway. It was practically empty as this was a week day when practically no one goes to the beach for a swim. Actually, the resort's employees were so happy to accommodate us.
Photo below shows where we set up our tables and lounging chairs under the cool shadows of giant Talisay trees (or Indian Almond trees) beside the gentle lapping of the waves.
And then all of a sudden, it's time to go home. It's late in the afternoon and we had to catch the last boat trip to the city. And with heavy hearts and feet we take the short walk from the beach to the resort's entrance for the last trip out.
Our group while waiting for the boat to arrive.
That's it for this post. Hopefully soon, when this crisis is all behind us, we can visit this beautiful place again. The next time around will be definitely filled with more appreciation of these simple joys which we normally took for granted. Thanks for visiting. See you again and meanwhile stay safe everyone and good luck to all the participants.
