Greetings Shadow Hunters. We are now in Round 235 of this very popular contest, the Show Me A Shadow or SMASh Contest, hosted by @melinda010100. If you still don't know about this yet, check out the contest rules here. Read all about it and we look forward to your joining us in the near future.
My daughter, once again, joined another art exhibit which started last week. This exhibit is being sponsored by another art group, Palikata, which she is also a member of. The artists in this group are all students, past and present, of the University of Mindanao's School of Fine Arts here in our city, Davao City. The display is dubbed KITA Art Exhibition and will run through the 17th of September at the La Herencia Art Gallery.
While going through the various art exposition, I was drawn to this piece of work which got my SMAShing juice beginning to flow excitedly.
Would you believe this is a painting?
I checked the art description to know more about the painting. Here is what was written on the tag.
The artwork was done by the artist Dominick Pilapil and the title of the work is "In TV No Veritas" which translates to: "There's No Truth In Television" or something like that. But what struck me next was the medium used in the painting. Oil On Broken TV! Holy Molly. The canvass apparently is a broken television flat screen, Hitachi to be specific. Quite unique for a canvass, if you ask me. Although I think the artist probably saved on framing materials and work which, judging from what my daughter spends for them, could be quite sizeable too.
Here's how the artwork look from afar.
Shadows are made naturally by blocking light. Light rays travel from a source in straight lines and if a solid object gets in the way, it stops the light rays travelling through it resulting in an area of darkness behind the object which is called a shadow. In this case we have here a man-made shadow. No blocking of light rays here. Only oil paint base, a broken TV, a paint brush and a creative mind. I think this is really cool and worth sharing and entering in the SMASh Contest.
And that's all folks. A lot of thanks to all our sponsors, delegators and donors. Special thanks to @good-karma, @ecency, @pixresteemer, #archon and our very own hard-working judge @annephilbrick. Keep safe everyone and may peace be always with you all.
