My folks can through to Kommetjie to visit for the day and my mom and I always manage to fit in a quick walk along the coast.
The weather was beautiful, the strong wind had dropped to a light coastal breeze and the clouds were looking magnificent.
We started near the Slangkoppunt Lighthouse on the boardwalk and made our way along the snaking, rocky coastline to Long Beach.
Long Beach is our local spot and where families tend to spend their afternoons on windless summer days.
Today the tide has been high and it has formed safe pools for the kids to play in. The pools have also formed mirrors for the beautiful reflections of the clouds and the Hout Bay mountain range in the distance.
My entry
This wouldn’t be possible if the wind was up so we have to take advantage of these moments. My regular beach walks aren’t just a time to walk but a time to reflect on the week that’s passed, the days ahead and to clear out my mind of clutter.
It’s amazing how good taking a walk can be fore the soul. Take a walk this weekend if you get a chance. It’s so worth it!
Beautiful. So nice that you can share that time with your mom too. Do you have a goal to do 52 walks this year? If so you are getting close. Very exciting.
Hi! I think I’ve done more than 42 walks already 😜. I just don’t record them all. Luckily my folks are quite young and going to be around for a long time so we will get to do many more beach walks together. Staying in the same city helps. Hope you’re planning another big camping adventure soon??? I’m doing The Whale Trail next week which is a 5-day hike along the coast in a nature reserve. It’s going to be brilliant and I’ll post all about it the following week. I’ll just be off the grid for those 5 days.
