☀️ El Ojo del Engaño.
En una muy antigua y ya perdida ciudad, de calles angostas y empedradas, existía la creencia de que allí se ocultaban secretos milenarios. Vivía allí una joven morena de cabellos rizados, la cual era conocida por su constante deseo de investigación y desentrañamiento de los más oscuros secretos. Su mente inquieta y su ávido deseo de conocimiento, le habían ganado una popularidad no muy deseada para la época, ya que las mujeres que se dedicaban a estos oficios, corrían el peligro de ser declaradas brujas.
Eliuska, que así se llamaba la chica, se había interesado por una antigua leyenda que había conocido mientras hojeaba un viejo tomo de alquimia. En sus páginas, se encontró con una peculiar referencia al "Ojo de los Engaños", que hablaba sobre una suerte de artilugio, el cual era capaz de atrapar a los incautos en una red de mentiras y falsedades.
Fascinada por el misterio, Eliuska inició una profunda investigación, adentrándose en los más recónditos parajes de la ciudad para descifrar el enigma. Fue así que se encontró con antiguos símbolos, recetas de pócimas extrañas, códigos y diagramas que iban descubriendo una maraña de secretos. Finalmente, y luego de insistir en su investigación, logró descifrar lo que los escritos ocultaban. Se trataba de un pequeño amuleto, el cual debía ser tallado en una piedra de jade con un intrincado y preciso diseño. Después de haber conseguido terminar la pieza, se propuso a desafiar lo que decía la antigua leyenda, sobre que solo aquellos con un corazón puro y una mente abierta, confrontados con el ojo, serían capaces de discernir la verdad del engaño.
Una noche, mientras caminaba por una vereda cercana a un riachuelo, se encontró con un hombre muy adinerado, el cual era conocido por ser un avaro y deshonesto, y decidió poner en práctica lo aprendido sobre el amuleto. Colgado en un hermoso collar de perlas falsas, Eliuska se aseguró que el mismo quedara a la vista mientras el hombre se le acercaba. La mordida entró por el ojo, cuando estos se fijaron en el amuleto y, sin saberlo, había caído en la trampa. De inmediato, comenzó a tejerse alrededor del hombre, una invisible red de engaños, traiciones y mentiras.
Poco a poco, las personas que rodeaban al hombre o eran parte de su familia, comenzaron a murmurar en su contra, a difamarlo o a enemistarse con él. Sus socios comerciales lo acusaron de fraude, sus amigos lo traicionaron y su esposa lo abandonó, creyéndose todos ellos, las mentiras que circulaban sobre él.
Desesperado y al borde del suicidio, el hombre recordó su encuentro con Eliuska en la vereda y de cómo, a partir de ese preciso instante, su vida comenzó a derrumbarse. Acudió en su búsqueda y al encontrarla, le suplicó por ayuda. Eliuska, haciendo alarde de sus conocimientos, le habló de la naturaleza del amuleto y le explicó de cómo había sucumbido a la trampa del ojo de los engaños.
A partir de este encuentro, Eliuska y el hombre establecieron una sociedad, donde se dedicaron a conseguir incautos de muy buena posición económica, con el fin de que, a través del poder del amuleto, destruir sus vidas y así quedarse con las fortunas que poseían. Muy pronto, amasaron tal poder, que fueron capaces de establecerse en tierras muy lejanas y fundar una nación, de la cual se declararon sus reyes e instaurando su propia monarquía. Nunca se supo más nada del amuleto, pero sí de que su reinado continuó a través del tiempo y de la sucesión real, llegando a dominar gran parte del planeta tierra.

☀️ The Eye of Deception.
In a very old and already lost city, with narrow cobblestone streets, there was a belief that millenary secrets were hidden there. There lived a young brunette with curly hair, who was known for her constant desire to investigate and unravel the darkest secrets. Her restless mind and her avid desire for knowledge had earned her an undesirable popularity for the time since women who dedicated themselves to these trades were in danger of being declared witches.
Eliuska, that was the girl's name, had become interested in an ancient legend she had come across while leafing through an old alchemy tome. In its pages, she came across a peculiar reference to the "Eye of Deceit", which spoke of a sort of contraption, which was capable of trapping the unwary in a web of lies and falsehoods.
Fascinated by the mystery, Eliuska began a deep investigation, delving into the most hidden corners of the city to decipher the enigma. She came across ancient symbols, recipes for strange potions, codes, and diagrams that uncovered a tangle of secrets. Finally, and after persisting in his research, he managed to decipher what the writings concealed. It was a small amulet, which had to be carved in a jade stone with an intricate and precise design. After he managed to finish the piece, he set out to challenge the ancient legend that only those with a pure heart and an open mind, confronted with the eye, would be able to discern truth from deception.
One night, while walking along a sidewalk near a stream, he came across a very wealthy man, who was known to be greedy and dishonest, and decided to put into practice what he had learned about the amulet. Hanging on a beautiful necklace of fake pearls, Eliuska made sure that the necklace was in full view as the man approached her. The bite went in through the eye as they noticed the amulet and, unbeknownst to her, she had fallen into the trap. Immediately, an invisible web of deceit, betrayal, and lies began to weave itself around the man.
Little by little, the people who surrounded the man or were part of his family began to murmur against him, to slander him, or to make enemies with him. His business partners accused him of fraud, his friends betrayed him and his wife abandoned him, all of them believing the lies that were circulating about him.
Desperate and on the verge of suicide, the man recalled his encounter with Eliuska on the sidewalk and how, from that very moment, his life began to fall apart. He went in search of her and when he found her, he begged her for help. Eliuska, displaying her knowledge, told him about the nature of the amulet and explained how she had succumbed to the trap of the eye of deceit.
From this encounter, Eliuska and the man established a partnership, where they dedicated themselves to obtaining the unwary of very good economic position, so that, through the power of the amulet, they could destroy their lives and thus keep the fortunes they possessed. Very soon, they amassed such power that they were able to settle in distant lands and found a nation, of which they declared themselves kings and established their monarchy. Nothing more was ever known of the amulet, but it is known that their reign continued through time and royal succession, coming to dominate much of the planet Earth.

I find this story intriguing. The idea of an ancient amulet that can ensnare people in webs of deception is chilling. Eliuska's curiosity and determination to unravel the mystery made for a captivating heroine. However, her decision to wield such dark power for personal gain by manipulating and ruining others was a haunting descent. The ending left me wondering if we're still living under the shadow of that ill-begotten empire today. A gripping story that makes you question what truths may be concealed all around us.
