¡Hola, amigos de Hive! Hoy les traigo un artículo muy especial, es una review de uno de mis libros favoritos (acabo de terminar de leerlo) más bien se trata de un diario que terminó convirtiéndose, con el paso de los años, en un importantísimo documento histórico y prueba fehaciente de la existencia del holocausto. Se trata del Diario de Ana Frank.
Hello Hive friends! Today I bring you a very special article, it's a review of one of my favorite books (I just finished reading it) rather it's a diary that ended up becoming, over the years, a very important historical document and reliable evidence of the existence of the holocaust. It's the Diary of Anne Frank.

El 12 de junio de 1942, Ana está de cumpleaños, y entre muchos regalos recibe uno muy especial, uno que se convertiría en el recipiente que contendría sus emociones, secretos y todo lo que ella no se atrevía a exteriorizar frente a nadie, su amadísimo diario. Fue un obsequio de Otto Frank, su padre.
On June 12, 1942, Anne is on her birthday, and among many gifts she receives a very special one, one that would become the container that would contain her emotions, secrets and everything that she didn't dare to show in front of anyone, her beloved daily. It was a gift from Otto Frank, his father.
Ana decide ponerle un nombre a su diario, así que lo llama «Kitty», y cada acontecimiento es narrado en forma de cartas, dirigidas a esa «amiga», sin embargo, es tan detallista en su narración, describiendo cada lugar, cada situación, usando diálogos, que no resulta difícil sentirse parte del ambiente, te sientes en confianza, casi como si tú fueses Kiity y las cartas estuviesen dirigidas a ti.
Anne decides to give her diary a name, so she calls it "Kitty", and each event is narrated in the form of letters, for that "friend", however, she is so detailed in her narration, describing each place, each situation, using dialogues, it's not difficult to feel part of the environment, you feel confident, almost as if you were Kiity and the letters were writen for you.
Ana desnuda su alma a través de la pluma y el papel, debido a que no se siente capaz de mostrarse ante los demás tal cual es, y las pocas veces que lo hace comienza a ser censurada, primero por su profesor, quien la acusa de ser muy locuaz durante las clases (algo que indica su espíritu indomable), incluso la castiga «obligándola» a escribir ensayos o cuentos, algo que para ella no es un problema.
Anne undresses her soul through pen and paper, because she doesn't feel capable of showing herself to others as she is, and the few times she does, she begins to be censored, first by her teacher, who accuses her of being very talkative during class (something that indicates her indomitable spirit), even punishes her by "forcing" her to write essays or stories, something that is not a problem for her.
Posteriormente tiene problemas con su madre, ya que Ana la considera una mujer sarcástica y criticona, muy diferente a ella.
Later she has problems with her mother, since Ana considers her a sarcastic and critical woman, very different from her.
Y pues, en líneas generales, Ana es una chica normal que vive en tiempos difíciles, por lo tanto, su vida tal como la conocía, desapareció de un momento a otro cuando reciben un mensaje por parte de las SS. Se trata de un citatorio para Margot, la hermana mayor de Ana. Es en ese momento donde sus padres deciden adelantar sus planes de huir de los nazis, pero ¿a dónde?... se pregunta Ana.
And well, in general lines, Ana is a normal girl who lives in difficult times, therefore, her life as she knew it, disappeared from one moment to another, when theyreceives a message from the SS. It's a summons for Margot, Ana's older sister. It's at that moment that her parents decide to advance their plans to flee from the Nazis, but where?... Anne wonders.
El anexo secreto/The secret annex
Los Frank se mudan a la parte trasera de unas oficinas, donde los mantienen escondidos unos amigos de la familia, posteriormente llegan los Van Daan a hacerles compañía (El apellido real de esta familia es Van Pels) y finalmente llega Albert Dussel (Fritz Pfeffer), un dentista cuya esposa estaba a salvo en el extranjero.
The Franks move to the back of some offices, where they are kept hidden by family friends, later the Van Daans arrive to keep them company (The real name of this family is Van Pels) and finally Albert Dussel (Fritz Pfeffer), a dentist whose wife was safe abroad.
Cada día Ana va llenando su diario con sus pensamientos, experiencias y miedos. Nos cuenta las constantes peleas que se suscitan en el anexo, cualquier tontería es motivo para desencadenar cualquier discusión que provoca un ambiente tenso. Algo que es natural pues cuando varias personas con diferentes maneras de pensar se ven forzadas a convivir por prolongados períodos de tiempo, y sobre todo bajo todo el estrés que produce la guerra, es normal que surja cualquier conflicto.
Every day Anne fills her diary with her thoughts, experiences and fears. She tells us about the constant fights that arise in the annex, any nonsense is a reason to trigger any discussion that causes a tense atmosphere. Something that is natural because when several people with different ways of thinking are forced to live together for long periods of time, and especially under all the stress that war produces, it's normal for any conflict to arise.
Ana se llena de frustración cada vez que sus padres, los Van Daan o el señor Dussel la comparan con su hermana Margot, de personalidad más paciente y tímida: «Ella jamás diría algo así» «Si fueses como Margot...» No comprendían que Ana tenía su propia personalidad y que también necesitaba ser escuchada.
Anne is filled with frustration every time her parents, the Van Daans or Mr. Dussel compare her with her sister Margot, with a more patient and shy personality: "She would never say something like that" "If you were like Margot ..." They didn't understand that Anne had her own personality and that she also needed to be heard.
Los constantes bombardeos en distintos lugares de Holanda, sobre todo en Ámsterdam, y las noticias poco alentadoras que escuchan por la radio, ponen muy nerviosa a Ana, que solo encuentra tranquilidad al dormir junto a sus padres mientras las paredes del anexo secreto se estremecen con las ondas que producen las bombas al caer a los lejos. La pobre chica tiene pesadillas y a veces su fértil imaginación le hace crear escenarios nefastos en su mente: la gestapo entrando al anexo para anunciarles que están arrestados, los campos de concentración, las bombas, los soldados marchando...
The constant bombardments in different parts of the Netherlands, especially in Amsterdam, and the discouraging news they hear on the radio make Anne very nervous, who only finds peace by sleeping with her parents while the walls of the secret annex shake with the waves produced by bombs falling in the distance. The poor girl has nightmares and sometimes her fertile imagination makes her create dire scenarios in her mind: the gestapo entering the annex to announce that they are arrested, the concentration camps, the bombs, the marching soldiers...
Sin embargo, muchas veces Ana demuestra una gran madurez al reconocer que, pese a sentirse triste o nerviosa en su cautiverio, todavía puede considerarse una persona afortunada, a diferencia de los otros judíos que son deportados a diario a los campos de concentración y exterminio, donde viven un verdadero infierno. Ana sufre por ellos pues los ha visto desfilar por la calle, a través de su ventana, escondida detrás de las cortinas. Los judíos caminan bajo las amenazas, empujones y golpes de los soldados nazis.
However, many times Anne shows great maturity when she recognizes that, despite feeling sad or nervous in her captivity, she can still consider herself a lucky person, unlike the other Jews who are deported daily to the concentration and extermination camps where they live a real hell. Anne suffers for them because she has seen them walking down the street, through her window, hidden behind the curtains. Jews walk under the threats, shoves and blows of Nazi soldiers.
A pesar de que todos consideran a Ana como una chica vanidosa que solo piensa en sí misma (y ella incluso se considera como tal) quejándose del calor o del frío, de la escasa comida o del encierro, un día comienza a reflexionar sobre si misma, y a pensar en la vida fuera de los muros protectores, entonces sufre por su amiga que fue deportada, la imagina teniendo frío, hambre y enferma. Ana se avergüenza de sí misma, considerándose egoísta.
Despite the fact that everyone considers Anne as a vain girl who only thinks of herself (and she even considers herself as such) complaining about the heat or the cold, the scarce food or the confinement, one day she begins to reflect on herself, and thinking about life outside the protective walls, then she suffers for her friend who was deported, she imagines her being cold, hungry and sick, then she is ashamed of herself, considering herself selfish.
A pesar de estar encerrada, Ana se permite vivir las emociones propias de los chicos de su edad: los cambios de humor, los cambios en su cuerpo que comienza a pasar a una etapa diferente, el amor y el desamor. Se deleita con la compañía de Peter Van Daan (el único adolescente a parte de su hermana), lo analiza en sus conversaciones, sueña con él y empieza a sentirse atraída por él, pero pronto se desilusiona al comprobar que en realidad son muy diferentes (ella es extrovertida y el muy hermético). Además, ella lo percibe como un chico inmaduro.
Despite being locked up, Anne allows herself to experience the emotions typical of girls her age: mood swings, changes in her body that begin to move to a different stage, love and heartbreak. She delights in the company of Peter Van Daan (the only teenager apart from her sister), analyzes him in her conversations, dreams of him and begins to feel attracted to him, but is soon disappointed to find that they are actually very different (she is outgoing and he is very shy). Also, she perceives him as an immature boy.
A medida que van pasando los años y Ana ya no tiene espacio en su diario, comienza a escribir en otros cuadernos e incluso papeles sueltos.
As the years go by and Anne no longer has space in her diary, she begins to write in other notebooks and even loose papers.
Ana llenaba las paredes de su habitación con fotografías de estrellas de cine porque le gustaba la farándula, pero no solo pensaba en banalidades, ella invertía su tiempo en estudiar idiomas, geografía e historia, mientras, a su vez, a través de su registro diario, escribía nuevos capítulos de la historia mundial, pues estaba consciente de la importancia de sus memorias, e incluso soñaba con publicar su diario al final de la guerra
Anne filled the walls of her room with pictures of movie stars because she liked show business, but not only she think about banalities, she invested her time in studying languages, geography and history, while, in turn, through her daily record, she wrote new chapters of world world history, as she was aware of the importance of her memoirs, and even dreamed of publishing her diary at the end of the war.
De hecho, el miércoles 29 de marzo de 1944, ella registra en su diario que había escuchado una transmisión de radio donde habló el ministro Bolkestein, diciendo que después de la guerra iban a recopilar todas las cartas y memorias escritas durante esa época, entonces Ana escribe «¿Te imaginas una novela del Anexo secreto?». Quien diría que años después, su sueño se haría realidad.
In fact, on Wednesday March 29, 1944, she records in her diary that she had listened to a radio transmission where Minister Bolkestein spoke, saying that after the war they were going to collect all the letters and memoirs written during that time, then Anne write "Can you imagine a Secret Annex novel?." Who would say that years later, her dream would come true.
A medida que el tiempo pasa, Ana continúa escribiendo, no solo su diario, sino cuentos y ensayos, sueña con el final de la guerra, con poder salir del anexo, sintiéndose libre para poder continuar sus estudios en la escuela. Quiere ser periodista y escritora, quiere ayudar a otros. A veces se siente devastada al darse cuenta de que la tan anhelada invasión no llega a Holanda, y otras veces encuentra fuerzas para continuar viviendo, registrando cada día, los hechos de su vida, de lo que escucha por la radio o de las noticias que traen sus protectores del exterior, admira a los ingleses y sueña con que ellos se conviertan en sus héroes ante los malvados nazis, y vive aterrada ante la idea de que un día la gestapo vaya a arrestarlos.
As time passes, Anne continues to write, not only her diary, but also stories and essays, she dreams of the end of the war, of being able to leave the annex, feeling free to continue her studies at school. She wants to be a journalist and writer, she wants to help others. Sometimes she feels devastated when she realizes that the long-awaited invasion doesn't reach Netherlands, and other times she finds the strength to continue living, recording every day, the events of her life, what she hears on the radio or the news that their protectors bring from out side, she admires the English and dreams that they will become their heroes to protec them from the evil Nazis and lives in terror at the idea that one day the gestapo will arrest them.
Lamentablemente esa pesadilla se concreta el 4 de agosto de 1944, cuando llegan oficiales de las fuerzas armadas de la Policía de Seguridad y se los llevan a todos, incluyendo a los protectores de las familias refugiadas en el anexo.
Unfortunately, this nightmare takes place on August 4, 1944, when officers of the armed forces of the Security Police arrive and take them all away, including the protectors of the refugee families in the annex.
Los judíos son enviados a Auschwitz y viven en medio de la ignominia, el hambre y la enfermedad.

El señor Van Daan fue enviado directamente a la cámara de gas en cuanto llegó al campo de concentración, poco tiempo después, Ana y su hermana Margot fueron enviadas a Bergen - Belsen, un campo de concentración en Alemania. Ana se convirtió en la protectora de su hermana, mostrando la entereza y temple que se había propuesto en caso de que fuesen arrestados. Lamentablemente ambas hermanas fueron contagiadas con tifus.
Mr. Van Daan was sent directly to the gas chamber as soon as he arrived at the concentration camp, shortly after, Anne and her sister Margot were sent to Bergen - Belsen, a concentration camp in Germany. Anne became the protector of her sister, showing the fortitude and mettle that she had been proposed in case they were arrested. Unfortunately both sisters were infected with typhus.
Margot estaba tan débil debido a la enfermedad y a la mala alimentación, que murió al instante cuando se cayó de su camastro. Al sentirse completamente sola, sin sus padres, sin su hermana, tal vez Ana se dejó vencer por el dolor y la enfermedad, pues ella murió pocos días después. Margot was so weak from illness and poor diet that she died instantly when she fell from her bunk. Feeling completely alone, without her parents, without her sister, perhaps Anne allowed herself to be overcome by pain and illness, as she died a few days later. Sadly, only two months before the liberation of the concentration camp.
Edith Frank, la madre de Ana y Margot, murió de hambre en Auschwitz, Peter también murió de hambre, y Otto Frank fue el único sobreviviente. When Otto read the newspaper, he said that he met an Anne completely different from the one he knew, much more tender, sensitive, with so many dreams and ideas, a girl with an adult mind, capable of analyzing her life and environment, understanding it while she analyzed how it could be changed. Then he understood that he had to make her dream come true, that if God had allowed him to live, it had been to continue his daughter's legacy, so that future generations would know what had really happened, so that they would never again allow hatred to dominate. their lives.

After the success of the publication of the diary, many people were eager to know a little more, and Otto Frank corresponded with many young people who wrote to him from all over the world, and told them that they were in charge of building a better world.

But people wanted to see with their own eyes the secret annex, the revolving bookcase that hided the access door to the place, and of course, Anne's room, however everything was almost in ruins, so that a group of neighbors from Amsterdam erects the Anne Frank Foundation, with the purpose of preserving the house and turning it into a museum. So on May 3, 1960, The Anne Frank House was officially inaugurated.

Como pudieron apreciar, amigos, el diario de Ana Frank es mucho más que eso, es un documento donde ciertamente puedes hallar desde sentimientos, hasta datos y hechos históricos, es una ventana al interior de un hogar judío real, una forma de entrar en contexto con la situación de esa época y sentir empatía, además es la prueba fehaciente de que el holocausto y la guerra fueron una realidad que jamás deben repetirse.
As you could see, friends, the diary of Anne Frank is much more than that, it's a document where you can certainly find from feelings, to data and historical facts, it is a window into a real Jewish home, a way to enter into context with the situation of that time and feeling empathy, it's also the irrefutable proof that the holocaust and the war were a reality that should never be repeated.
