Photographer Hirasaka's studio is where people go after they die. They spend their last moments there before they are sent to "another world" and have the opportunity to choose their favourite photos from their entire life.
"Photographer of Lost Memories" * tells the stories of three, unrelated people. One of them is an old woman who recalls her youth. There is also a middle-aged man who was involved in an illegal business and who wants to return to a happy time. The last guest is a little girl with a difficult past, whose photographer wants to make sure she has a good time. Each of them has the opportunity to spend a day in their past.
I have a passion for photography, so I really enjoyed the photographic references in this book, such as the process of developing photos or choosing the right camera.
The book deals with themes of passing, the meaning of life, sacrifice, as well as poverty, racism, bullying and physical violence. It contains some violent scenes, so it will not be suitable for everyone.
Each of the three stories described is engaging and full of nostalgia and different emotions, but I was most moved by the last one, the story of a child. The book has an eerie, slow mood and allows you to reflect. I enjoyed it very much.

Studio fotografa Hirasaki to miejsce, do którego trafiają ludzie po śmierci. Spędzają w nim ostatnie chwile, zanim trafią na "tamten świat" i mają okazję wybrać swoje ulubione zdjęcia z całego życia.
"Fotograf utraconych wspomnień" opowiada o historiach trzech, niepowiązanych ze sobą ludzi. Jedna z nich to stara kobieta, która wspomina swoją młodość. Jest także średniego wieku mężczyzna, który zajmował się nielegalnym biznesem, a który chce powrócić do szczęśliwego momentu. Ostatnim gościem jest mała dziewczynka z ciężką przeszłością, której fotograf chce zapewnić dobrą zabawę. Każde z nich ma możliwość spędzenia jednego dnia w swojej przeszłości.
Pasjonuję się fotografią, więc bardzo podobały mi się nawiązania fotograficzne w tej książce, na przykład proces wywoływania zdjęć czy wybierania odpowiedniego aparatu.
Książka podejmuje tematy przemijania, sensu życia, poświęcenia, a także biedy, rasizmu, nękania i przemocy fizycznej. Zawiera kilka brutalnych scen, więc nie będzie odpowiednia dla każdego.
Każda z trzech opisanych historii jest ujmująca i pełna nostalgii i różnych emocji, jednak najbardziej poruszyła mnie ostatnia - historia dziecka. Książka ma niesamowity, powolny nastrój i pozwala na refleksje. Bardzo mi się podobała.
