En esta ocasión quiero compartir con ustedes algo que me encanta profundamente: los libros Boys Love (BL).Muchas veces me he preguntado por qué disfruto tanto de este género, y creo que es porque ofrece algo diferente a lo que solemos encontrar en la literatura romántica tradicional. Así que aquí les comparto tres razones por las cuales amo leer Boys Love:

I have often wondered why I enjoy this genre so much, and I think it's because it offers something different from what we usually find in traditional romance literature. Desde que comencé a leer romances BL he notado un crecimiento increíble en la variedad de historias y escenarios que nos presentan. He disfrutado desde romances juveniles y universitarios hasta historias con toques de fantasía, drama familiar, misterio o incluso ciencia ficción.
Since I started reading BL romances, I have noticed an incredible growth in the variety of stories and settings presented to us. I have enjoyed everything from teen and college romances to stories with touches of fantasy, family drama, mystery, and even science fiction.
Lo más bonito es que en una sola novela puedes encontrar diferentes matices: un poco de comedia, un toque de drama, escenas tiernas y momentos intensos. Esa capacidad de mezclar géneros y emociones hace que siempre encuentre algo nuevo y refrescante dentro del BL.
The best part is that you can find different nuances in a single novel: a bit of comedy, a touch of drama, tender scenes, and intense moments. That ability to mix genres and emotions means that I always find something new and refreshing within BL.
2. Visibilización y representación/ Visibility and representation
Aunque a veces el BL puede tener un enfoque romántico bastante idealizado, no se puede negar el valor que aporta en términos de representación. Durante mucho tiempo la literatura romántica estuvo limitada a modelos tradicionales de pareja, pero el BL rompe esos esquemas y abre la puerta a narrativas diferentes.
Although BL can sometimes take a rather idealized romantic approach, there is no denying the value it brings in terms of representation. For a long time, romantic literature was limited to traditional models of couples, but BL breaks those molds and opens the door to different narratives.
Este género toca temas que incluso pueden ser considerados tabú en algunas sociedades, y lo hace de manera cercana, mostrándonos que el amor puede tener muchas formas. Esa visibilidad que hoy disfrutamos en la literatura no era tan común hace veinte o treinta años, y pienso que para muchas personas —incluyéndome— es un motivo de alegría.
This genre touches on topics that may even be considered taboo in some societies, and it does so in an accessible way, showing us that love can take many forms. The visibility we enjoy today in literature was not so common twenty or thirty years ago, and I think that for many people—myself included—it is a cause for joy.
1. Romances intensos/Intense romances
Seamos sinceros: para romances flojos ya tenemos la vida real jajaja 😅. Lo que me encanta del BL es que, en la mayoría de los casos (sin generalizar), las relaciones se muestran con un vínculo profundo y natural.
Let's be honest: for weak romances, we already have real life, ha ha ha. What I love about BL is that, in most cases (without generalizing), relationships are shown with a deep and natural bond.
Me gusta muchísimo cómo las historias suelen construir el romance poco a poco, de forma lenta pero intensa, hasta llegar a un punto en el que de verdad puedes sentir la conexión de los personajes. Cuando un BL está bien escrito, ese amor traspasa las páginas (o la pantalla, si lo lees digital) y logra conmoverte de verdad.
I really like how stories tend to build romance slowly but intensely, until you reach a point where you can truly feel the connection between the characters. When a BL is well written, that love transcends the pages (or the screen, if you read it digitally) and truly moves you.
Al final, podría decir que lo que más me gusta del Boys Love es que me hace soñar, sentir y reflexionar. No importa si la historia es ligera o compleja, siempre me deja algo: una sonrisa, una enseñanza o incluso una lágrima.
In the end, I would say that what I like most about Boys Love is that it makes me dream, feel, and reflect. It doesn't matter if the story is light or complex, it always leaves me with something: a smile, a lesson, or even a tear.
