The Inkblot, Yonka and Yonek are a trio of friends created by Szarlota Pawel, one of the leading figures of the Polish comic scene during the socialist era. The two teenagers and a magical ink creature go through various adventures - sometimes more realistic, sometimes completely outlandish. My favourite comics in this series are the fourth ('Dragon's Egg') and fifth ('Gold of Alaska'). Today you will be introduced to the first of these. |

| Szybko jednak przestaje być banalnie – Kleks wpada na pomysł, żeby uszyć balon, przyczepić go do stojącego na podwórku wraku samochodu (oczywiście po uprzedniej renowacji) i polecieć gdzieś przed siebie w poszukiwaniu przygody. | But it soon becomes more than trivial - The Inkblot has the idea of sewing a balloon, attaching it to a wrecked car in the backyard (after it has been repaired, of course) and flying off in search of adventure. |

It turns out that he has been summoned for help by Princess Plink, ruler of his homeland of Pelikania, where a dragon has taken root. The dragon is malevolent, depriving the principality of its life-giving ink - in a word, threatening the fate of the entire state. |

| Jak się kończy, chyba możecie zgadnąć – to w końcu taka trochę uwspółcześniona bajka. A te zawsze kończą się dobrze. | You can probably guess how it ends - it's a bit of a modernised fairy tale. And they always end well. |
| Na 64 stronach autorka daje nam wiele radości: charakterystyczny styl rysunków, humor i żarty sytuacyjne, ciekawe dialogi, z których co najmniej niektóre zostają w pamięci na wiele lat, jak również dyskretne wyśmiewanie „uroków” PRL-owskiej codzienności – wszystko to sprawia, że czas poświęcony na lekturę upływa nam z uśmiechem na ustach. Nam – czyli na pewno starszemu pokoleniu. Na młodszym przygód Kleksa jeszcze nie testowałem – być może odebrałoby je równie pozytywnie, jak my, być może stwierdziłoby, że to staroć niegodna uwagi. Jeśli ktoś z Was taki eksperyment przeprowadził, dajcie znać, jak podobają się Kleksowe przygody współczesnym dzieciom/młodzieży. Dla mnie będzie to zawsze komiks pozwalający szybko i bezproblemowo przenieść się, choćby na parę chwil, do lat dzieciństwa. |
On 64 pages, the author gives us a lot of fun: a characteristic drawing style, humour and situational jokes, interesting dialogues, at least some of which will remain in our memory for many years, as well as a discreet mockery of the "charms" of everyday life in the Polish People's Republic - all this makes the time spent reading pass by with a smile on our lips. Ours - I mean the older generation, of course. I haven't yet tested the adventures of The Inkblot on the younger generation - perhaps they would find it as positive as we do, perhaps they would find it unworthy of attention. If any of you have conducted such an experiment, please let me know how the adventures of The Inkblot appeal to modern children/teenagers. For me, it will always be a comic book that allows me to quickly and seamlessly return to my childhood, if only for a few moments. |
| Trudno o w pełni obiektywną ocenę. Na pewno chętnie bym przyjął komiks jeszcze grubszy – choćby o 1/4, może 1/3. Minimalnie wyżej oceniłbym też „Złoto Alaski” (choć sama autorka jeszcze wyżej ceniła inne części serii). Ale biorąc pod uwagę to, ile miałem radości z lektury po latach, dam jednak 8 na 10. Za miśki. |
It is difficult to be completely objective. I would certainly welcome a comic book that was even thicker - if only by 1/4, maybe 1/3. I would also give "The Gold of Alaska" a slightly higher rating (although the author herself rated other parts of the series even higher). But considering how much fun I had reading it years later, I'll still give it an 8 out of 10. For the bears. |
