Verity By Colleen Hoover - Book Review

It’s been forever since I’ve read a good book. I mean, I’ve barely read any books and my girlfriend got this idea into my head on reading books again, and I guess on February I started my journey on completing 20 books For this year to start off with, I’m sure I’d complete more than 20, but that’s the goal for the time being that I’m setting for myself for this year, and I’ve already finished Seven books so far.

To start of with I downloaded this cool aap called Good Reads where I could set a goal for myself and I could track, which ever book that I have read, the day I started reading, the day of completion and all the fancy features you can follow other avid readers as well on that app and my God you have some insane book geeks that drop insanely detailed reviews on the book that they’ve read. I mean, those are some massive reviews that they leave behind, and it’s just incredible.

I’m currently reading This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay and as you can see on the app, it shows how much percent of the book have completed based on what entered into the app. I find this to be a pretty cool feature.

And this image shows the reading challenge that I have started for myself for this year and the seven books that I have completed so far in my journey.

No Spoiler Review

This is one of the books that she suggested I star with and it’s called Verity by Colleen Hoover, a psychological thriller novel that was published in December 2018.

I'm a honestly a wreck. What on earth did I just read ? Where do I even start with this book. My thoughts are all over the place. It's hard to wrap my head around all the creepiness I subjected myself to. I'm all but left with a myriad of questions, which I'll never find the answers to. This might not be a reliable review. Or it might.

I have read about 5 of Hoover's books and loved them. I knew "Verity" was going to be different, but I wasn't prepared for this. Colleen Hoover has always been known for incorporating heart fluttering romances in gut wrenching situations. But this book! I finished it in 6 hours straight. If that doesn't tell you how riveting this book was, I don't know what will. The only times I stopped was to ponder, to make sense of what I was reading. I am still reeling from the shock of it all. It wasn't as disturbing as I expected it to be, but somehow it stupefied me. "Verity" lures you in a murky tunnel, with promise of finding that solacing light at the end but instead drowns you in the eerieness of the climax.

Lowen Ashleigh is roped in to co-write the remaining books in a best selling series by Verity Crawford. Verity is rendered brain dead after an unfortunate accident.

Lowen moves into Verity's house with her husband and 5 year old son. She expects to find notes and ideas for her next books when she enters into Verity's office. But what she actually finds is an autobiography. And it's ugly. It's bone chilling at times.

What happens when a famous writer turns out to be a psychopath? What happens when you are forced to share a roof with her? What happens when you start falling for the said psychopath's husband?

Maybe "Verity" will give you the answers. Maybe not. This isn’t a Romance novel. It’s rough, dark, pornographic, and can be very uncomfortable to some people. The descriptions of how the wife in the story commits certain acts of atrocity’s is very a appalling but nonetheless this is a book that I would highly recommend.

Wow, you finished reading it in 6 hours? That surely must count as a record, but as you rightly say, it just speaks to how exciting and intriguing this book can be. You've already left me wanting to read it, I hope at some point I can get my hands on it.

It definitely was a record haha, you must definitely have at this book!

It has been a while I read a post from you. Coolen Hoover never fails to write a binge read worthy book. I'd love reading this one!
