In this book we find a, one could say, motivational fantasy novel written by Robert Fisher that tells the story of a gentleman convinced of his good, generous and loving qualities. His desire to demonstrate these qualities was so great that, wearing shining armor, he embarked on any battle that arose, killing dragons and rescuing maidens, without even taking into account whether they wanted to be saved. He was so obsessed with that role that he did not take off his armor even to sleep, which began to emotionally damage Julieta, his wife, who, immersed in her husband's deep indifference, turned to alcohol to compensate for such anguish. .
One day, tired of the knight's attitude, Juliet killed him by warning him that, if he did not get rid of his armor, she and her son, Cristóbal, would abandon him and leave the castle. Faced with this warning, the gentleman decides to take off his
armor, but he realizes that it is too late, since it was already practically attached to his body.
Worried about losing his family, the knight decides to go to the only person capable of helping him, the wizard Merlin. Upon finding him, after a tiring journey through the forest, the magician shows him the long and dangerous path of truth, which he must walk alongside a squirrel and a wise dove in order to free himself from his armor.
On this path he will come across three castles, the castle of silence, the castle of knowledge and the castle of will and daring, which he must cross, overcoming different obstacles from which he will learn to know himself, his true feelings. and to love and value himself for who he really is, thus finally getting rid of his armor.
En este libro nos encontramos con una, se podría decir, novela fantástica motivacional escrita por Robert Fisher que narra la historia de un caballero convencido de sus cualidades de bueno, generoso y amoroso. Era tanto su anhelo por demostrar dichas cualidades, que, portando una brillante armadura, se embarcaba en cuanta batalla se presentase, matando dragones y rescatando doncellas, sin siquiera tener en cuenta si éstas querían ser salvadas. Estaba tan obsesionado con ese rol, que no se quitaba su armadura ni siquiera para dormir, lo cual comenzó a dañar emocionalmente a Julieta, su esposa, la cual, hundida en la profunda indiferencia de su esposo, se volcó al alcohol para compensar tal angustia.Un día, cansada de la actitud del caballero, Julieta ultimó a éste advirtiéndole que, si no se deshacía de su armadura, ella junto a su hijo, Cristóbal, lo abandonarían marchándose del castillo. Ante este apercibimiento, el caballero decide quitarse la
armadura, pero se da cuenta que es demasiado tarde, pues ésta ya se encontraba prácticamente adherida a su cuerpo.Preocupado por perder a su familia, el caballero decide acudir a la única persona capaz de ayudarlo, el mago Merlín. Al encontrarlo, luego de una cansada travesía por el bosque, el mago le señala el largo y peligroso sendero de la verdad, que deberá caminar junto a una ardilla y una sabia paloma para poder librarse de su armadura.
En este camino se topará con tres castillos, el castillo del silencio, el castillo del conocimiento y el castillo de la voluntad y la osadía, los cuales deberá atravesar, superando diferentes obstáculos de los que aprenderá a conocerse a sí mismo, a sus verdaderos sentimientos y a amarse y valorarse por quien realmente es, logrando así, librarse finalmente de su armadura.
I learned about this book thanks to a recommendation that my social psychology professor made to me while I was in the first year of my degree. It is perfectly related, since beyond containing a wonderful story, it stands out for being a kind of self-help novel.
The most latent message that it expresses is the importance of self-knowledge and personal growth.
The book is full of metaphors that help convey teachings about releasing emotional barriers and finding your true identity.
On the one hand, we have the gentleman, who represents those people trapped in their external roles, who need to play the role that social expectations demand of them, and without that social expectation, the individual feels that they are not enough or "someone."
The resistance that the knight presents to get rid of his armor symbolizes the fear of change, and the attachment to the known, since without his armor, his vulnerabilities would be exposed and he would find himself inescapably outside his comfort zone.
On the other hand, the journey that our knight embarks on, going through different challenges, and with them, losing parts of his armor, forces him to discover hidden aspects of himself and with this, begins the process of accepting and loving himself. itself.
Although this narrative does not have too many characters, the few that we will meet would represent the importance of interpersonal relationships in addition to your personal development, since these characters help you understand love, empathy and emotional connection.
Finally, when the knight manages to get rid of his armor, we understand this as his mental and emotional liberation. The gentleman becomes more aware of his mind, his emotions and even how he behaves with others.
In conclusion, we have before us a work capable of resonating with any reader, leaving a moving message that will inevitably plant a seed in their mind, or an invitation to rethink if we are on the path of self-love or if we act in a automatic behind armor.
Este libro lo conocí gracias a una recomendación que me hizo mi profesora de psicología social mientras cursaba el primer año de la carrera. Está perfectamente relacionado, ya que mas allá contener una historia maravillosa, se destaca por ser una especie de novela de autoayuda.El mensaje mas latente que manifiesta es la importancia del autoconocimiento y el crecimiento personal.
El libro está lleno de metáforas y que ayudan a transmitir enseñanzas de liberación de barreras emocionales y encontrar su identidad verdadera.
Por un lado, tenemos al caballero, quien representa a aquellas personas presas de sus roles externos, que necesitan representar ese papel que las expectativas sociales le demandan, y sin esa expectativa social, el individuo siente no ser suficiente o "alguien".
La resistencia que presenta el caballero para deshacerse de su armadura, simboliza el miedo al cambio, y el apego a lo conocido, ya que sin su armadura, se desnudarían sus vulnerabilidades y se vería ineludiblemente fuera de su zona de confort.Por otro lado, el viaje en el que se embarca nuestro caballero, atravesando los diferentes desafíos, y con ellos, perdiendo partes de su armadura, lo obliga a descubrir aspectos ocultos de el mismo y con ello, comienza el proceso de aceptarse y amarse a si mismo.
Si bien, esta narración no cuenta con demasiados personajes, los pocos que iremos conociendo representarían la importancia de las relaciones interpersonales en complemento con su desarrollo personal, ya que estos personajes le ayudan a comprender sobre el amor, la empatía y la conexión emocional.
Por ultimo, cuando el caballero logra deshacerse de su armadura, entendemos esto como su liberación mental y emocional. el caballero se vuelve mas consciente de su mente, de sus emociones y hasta de cómo se comporta con los demás.
En conclusión, tenemos frente a nosotros una obra capaz de resonar con cualquier lector, dejando en él un mensaje conmovedor que inevitablemente dejará plantada una semilla en su mente, o una invitación a repensar si estamos en el camino del amor propio o si actuamos de forma automática detrás de una armadura.
