Lately my thoughts have been dwelling on the value and freedom of reviewing books.
What is the purpose of writing a book review? The easiest answer would be that you want to tell the world about the book you read, its characters, its plot, what you liked and what you didn't like. Yes, even talk about that book you didn't like.
Which brings us precisely to the central point of this post. Is it okay to review books you didn't like? I know some will say no. But I think it is, especially if the author personally sent you the book.
The community of readers in my opinion is one of the most genuine, free and beautiful, where we talk about the books we read, we expose an unimaginable amount of aspects of it to reach other readers with similar tastes to ours, or even those who want to try something different.
I think that readers are a very important cog in the publishing world, because while it is true that publishers can have very good advertising campaigns, in the end the determining factor will be the opinion of the readers, the diffusion by any means, the word of mouth.
For me, literature is a world that gives us full freedom to think, to imagine, to give our opinion about everything we read.
We are free to say with all the honesty in the world if we liked or disliked a book. I know that some people limit themselves when it comes to giving a negative review for fear of offending the author, or worse, they lie saying that they liked the book just to look good with publishers who use influencer marketing, but where would our credibility as content creators be? Where would the trust of our community of followers be?
I support negative reviews as long as we express ourselves with respect to the author and his work, we may not like it but we cannot despise the whole editorial process behind it, which could take months or even years.
So as long as we speak with respect, it's okay to review those books we liked. It's always good to be honest about our opinions because it opens spaces for debates, and maybe the author would like to see his work from a different perspective. And if the author is offended because someone didn't like his book, I think he would not be exempt from hubris.
A person who feels he is the best of all, who does not accept that he can make mistakes, that he learns something every day, is destined to stagnation, besides having a rather childish and immature attitude. In the end, when it comes to talking about books, it is not about whether we are wrong or not, but about something as subjective as the interests and tastes of each reader. Of course, I am not referring to the technical aspects of creating a book and everything that goes with it.

Últimamente mis pensamientos se detienen en el valor y libertad de reseñar libros.
¿Cuál es el objetivo de escribir la reseña de un libro? La respuesta más fácil sería que quieres contarle al mundo de ese libro que leíste, de sus personajes, su trama, lo que más te gustó y lo que no. Sí, incluso hablar de ese libro que no te gustó.
Lo que nos conduce precisamente al punto central de esta publicación. ¿Está bien reseñar aquellos libros que no te gustaron? Sé que algunos dirán que no. Pero yo pienso que sí, especialmente si el autor personalmente te envió el libro.
La comunidad de lectores en mi opinión es de las más genuinas, libres y bonitas, en las que hablamos de los libros que leímos, exponemos una cantidad inimaginable de aspectos del mismo para llegar a otros lectores con gustos similares a los nuestros, o incluso a aquellos que quieren probar algo distinto.
Pienso que los lectores somos un engranaje bastante importante del mundo editorial, porque si bien es cierto, que las editoriales pueden tener campañas publicitarias muy buenas, al final lo determinante será la opinión de los lectores, la difusión por cualquier medio, el boca a boca.
Para mí la literatura es un mundo que nos da plena libertad, para pensar, imaginar, opinar de todo aquello que leemos.
Somos libres de decir con toda la honestidad del mundo si nos gustó o no un libro. Sé que algunos se limitan a la hora de hacer una reseña negativa por miedo a ofender al autor, o peor aún, mienten diciendo que les gustó el libro solo para quedar bien con editoriales que usan el marketing de influencers, pero ¿En dónde quedaría nuestra credibilidad como creadores de contenido? ¿En dónde quedaría la confianza de nuestra comunidad de seguidores?
Apoyo a las reseñas negativas siempre y cuando nos expresemos con respeto al autor y a su trabajo, que a lo mejor no nos gustó pero no se puede despreciar todo el proceso editorial detrás que pudo ser de meses o incluso años.
Así que siempre y cuándo hablemos con respeto, está bien hacer reseñas de esos libros que nos gustaron. Siempre es bueno ser honestos sobre nuestras opiniones porque abre espacios para debates, y quizá al autor le guste ver su obra desde una perspectiva diferente. Y si el autor se ofende porque a alguien no le gustó su libro, creo que no estaría exento de soberbia.
Una persona que se siente el mejor de todos, qué no acepta que puede equivocarse, que todos los dias se aprende algo, está destinado al estancamiento, ademas que tener una actitud bastante infantil e inmadura. Y es que al final a la hora de hablar de libros no se trata de si estamos equivocados o no, sino de algo tan subjetivo como los intereses y gustos de cada lector. Por supuesto no me refiero a aspectos técnicos de la creación de un libro y todo lo que conlleva.

Pienso que una reseña es para dar tu opinión sea positiva o negativa y de hecho esa es la idea, obviamente viene siendo algo muy personal y cada quien al final se formará su propia opinión pero ya tiene una idea de que puede encontrarse, aunque quizá lo que a nosotros nos parece terrible para otros es un best seller jaja
Exactamente. Es algo muy subjetivo. También me ha pasado que he leído libros que otros dicen que es malo o aburrido pero a mí me gustan jaja.

Para mi siempre será importante decir la verdad y si algo me gusta lo digo y si no me gusta también.
Así que estoy de acuerdo en hacer las reseñas negativas, cuando se ameritan
