Hello everyone, if there's one type of collectible book or book I love to read, it's definitely storybooks and fables, especially those that are educational and cover topics that are often very helpful when studying. This stems from my habit of always having books that helped me better understand my homework, and I also loved the collections we had at home that were my best learning tool for years. The thing is, a while ago, a neighbor, while moving, gave us some things, and among them were some books that caught my eye. Upon further investigation, I discovered they were part of a learning book collection called "History of Thought."
Hola a todos, si hay un tipo de libros coleccionables o ejemplares para deleitar la lectura que más me guste tener, sin duda son los de cuentos o fábulas y sobre todo aquellos que llegan a ser educativos y que abarcan temas que suelen ser incluso de gran ayuda a la hora de estudiar, y es que esto viene de esa costumbre de siempre tener libros que me permitieran comprender mejor las tareas y también me gustaban esas colecciones que había en casa que por años eran la mejor herramienta para mí. La cosa es que hace un tiempo una vecina, realizando una pequeña mudanza, nos dio algunas cosas y entre estas había unos ejemplares que me llamaron la atención, por lo que al investigar vi que estos eran parte de una colección de libros para el aprendizaje llamada "Historia del pensamiento".
This was a major collection published between 1983 and 1985 by Planeta S.A. and Ediciones Orbis S.A., and edited by Juan Manuel Prado. It was distributed in Spain and Argentina. This unique collection focuses on the history of philosophical thought, encompassing sociological, political, psychological, scientific, and much more from our culture, making it more than just a universal history. Interestingly, it consisted of 100 books, each accompanied by 100 fascicles bound into four volumes, arranged chronologically and released weekly.
Esta fue una gran colección que salió entre los años 1983 y 1985 por parte de la editorial Planeta S.A. y Ediciones Orbis S.A., y dirigida por Juan Manuel Prado, los cuales fueron distribuidos entre España y Argentina. Esta curiosa colección se centra en la historia del pensamiento filosófico, abarcando ideas sociológicas, políticas, psicológicas, científicas y mucho más de nuestra cultura, por lo que no es simplemente una historia universal. Lo curioso de esta es que estaba formada por 100 libros que estarían acompañados igualmente de 100 fascículos encuadernables en 4 volúmenes con un orden cronológico que tenían una distribución semanal.
Among the diverse thinkers featured in these issues are Descartes, Erasmus, Plato, Ortega y Gasset, Thomas More, Bertrand Russell, Unamuno, and many more, aiming for a comprehensive and varied collection. I currently own six of the 100 collectible fascicles; however, despite being small booklets, their information is well-covered with a wealth of text and illustrations, as well as small sections with supplementary information, reminiscent of old-fashioned encyclopedias.
Entre los diversos pensadores que se pueden encontrar en estos ejemplares están Descartes, Erasmo, Platón, Ortega y Gasset, Tomás Moro, Bertrand Russell, Unamuno y muchos más que buscan que sea una colección con un contenido completo y variado, y es que en esta ocasión lo que poseo son 6 de los 100 fascículos coleccionables; no obstante, a pesar de ser pequeños cuadernos, su información está bien abarcada con una gran cantidad de texto e ilustraciones, así como pequeños espacios con información complementaria al mejor estilo de las enciclopedias de antaño.
Each of these installments covers two or three areas of a theme that follows a chronological order with the next volume, making it quite engaging. For example, the first installment, besides being an introduction, covers everything from the life and death of ideas to the old ground for new ones, discussing archaic thought in various civilizations and places, and how it evolved into classical thought and its dogmas.
Y es que cada uno de estos fascículos llega a abarcar entre dos y tres áreas de un tema que va en cronología con el siguiente tomo de estos, lo que lo hace interesante. Por ejemplo, en el primero de estos, aparte de ser una introducción, abarca desde la vida y muerte de las ideas hasta una vieja tierra para nuevas ideas, hablando en este sobre el pensamiento arcaico en diversas civilizaciones y lugares, cómo ha sido la evolución hasta el pensamiento clásico y sus dogmas.
Personally, having these comprehensive and informative booklets sparks my curiosity and desire to acquire the complete collection, as well as the books themselves. This is largely due to my fondness for this type of text, which I must say are a true treasure, both for cultivating knowledge and as a valuable study tool. Furthermore, I find them fascinating when compared to current books on these topics, as you can see how the interpretation and approach to these subjects varies, whether due to changes over time or restructuring based on how education is managed today.
Personalmente, tener estos fascículos tan bien complementados y llenos de información me despierta esa curiosidad y deseo por llegar a tener la colección completa de estos y también lo que son los libros, más que todo por mi gusto hacia este tipo de textos, que debo decir que suelen ser un total tesoro, tanto para cultivar el conocimiento como para tener una herramienta de estudio. Así mismo, siento que estos suelen ser algo fascinantes al llegar a compararlos con los libros actuales que tocan estos temas, ya que se puede ver cómo varía la interpretación y abordaje de estos, ya sea con algún cambio del tiempo o alguna reestructuración en base a cómo se maneja la educación en la actualidad.
So, well, it's always good to have these collections among my books that add value and help cultivate the mind. So, even if it's not the complete collection or the books themselves, the fact that they are well preserved despite the years and that I can have a part of it makes me feel satisfied. What a gem you've found! I honestly wasn't familiar with this specific collection, but I love those "old-fashioned encyclopedia" style formats. You're absolutely right that they have a certain magic and a way of explaining things that's sometimes lost in modern books.
Even though it's nearly impossible to find all 100 issues, those six you have sound like a treasure to have in the library and browse through from time to time. They look incredibly well-preserved! Thanks for sharing them.
