Hello everyone. Here at home, as I've mentioned in previous posts, we tend to have a lot of books, some from my mom's collections that helped us a lot in our studies, and others that have come to us for various reasons and which we openly accept, since we always find some story or tale that meets the varied tastes that each member of this house tends to have. The thing is, as usual, with each visit to the studies they've sent us that season's worth of novel readings, and among so many copies, we went through many well-known classics, which we liked and captivated us, so that some time later my sister and I would each have a copy of one of the ones we liked the most, in this case "Don Quixote de la Mancha."

Acá en mi casa, como he mencionado en anteriores posts, solemos tener muchos libros, algunos siendo de colecciones de mi mamá que nos ayudaron mucho en los estudios, como otros que han llegado por diversos motivos y a los que aceptamos abiertamente, pues siempre encontramos alguna historia o relato que cumple con los variados gustos que solemos tener cada integrante de esta casa.La cosa está en que, como es costumbre, en cada paso por los estudios nos han mandado esa temporada de lectura de novelas y, entre tantos ejemplares, pasamos por muchos clásicos conocidos, los cuales nos gustaron y cautivaron, por lo que tiempo después mi hermana y yo tendríamos un ejemplar para cada una de una de las que más nos gustó, en este caso "Don Quijote de la Mancha".
And for this opportunity, I'm not only going to show you the copy my sister and I have, or more specifically, mine, but in addition to this, a three-part collectible version recently arrived home that adapts this brilliant children's story and manages to visually captivate the essence of this classic. But first, let's start with the copy I have, which I must say has a peculiarity, and that is that it is created in a format for young people who are just entering the world of reading. It is a version published in 2005 under the Santillana publishing house and endorsed by the Ministry of Culture and Alfaguara. This is a free, distributable version that includes an extra: a prologue by José Saramago with a positive review and an encouraging message that seeks to attract the reader, giving a more than clear preview of the great Miguel de Cervantes and his work.
Y es que para esta oportunidad no solo les mostraré el ejemplar que tenemos mi hermana y yo, o bueno, más específico, el mío, sino que sumado a esto, recientemente llegó a casa una versión coleccionable de tres partes que adapta esta genial historia para niños y que logra cautivar visualmente la esencia de este clásico. Pero antes, comencemos por el ejemplar que poseo, que debo decir que tiene una peculiaridad, y es que está creado en un formato para jóvenes que están integrándose en el mundo de la lectura, siendo así una versión publicada en el año 2005 bajo la editorial Santillana y avalada por el Ministerio de Cultura y Alfaguara, siendo esta una versión gratuita, distribuible y que posee un extra, que es un prólogo por parte de José Saramago con una crítica positiva y un mensaje alentador que busca atraer al lector, dando una previa más que clara del gran Miguel de Cervantes y su obra.
With a total of 400 pages of the book, we not only have the story of this nobleman and his adventure, but it also has a great artistic design that is reflected through each page, a drawing very attached to the aesthetics of the book, being a very beautiful art in my opinion, with very defined and detailed features that give a touch to all the amount of letters that we can see, and it is not only has an excellent artistic sample that accompanies the narration, but it brings us a detailed biography about the life and work of Miguel de Cervantes, from his beginnings to his death, as well as a respective chronological table. The reason why this copy is so detailed is because it is a special commemorative edition 400 years since the first appearance of the classic Don Quixote de la Mancha, obviously celebrated in that year 2005.
Con un total de 400 páginas de libro, tenemos no solo la historia sobre este hidalgo y su aventura, sino que cuenta con un gran diseño artístico que se plasma a través de cada hoja, un dibujo muy apegado a la estética del libro, siendo un arte muy hermoso a mi parecer, con rasgos muy definidos y detallados que dan un toque a toda la cantidad de letras que podemos ver, y es que no solo posee una excelente muestra artística que acompaña la narración, sino que nos trae una detallada biografía sobre la vida y obra de Miguel de Cervantes, estando desde sus inicios hasta su muerte, así como un respectivo cuadro cronológico. La razón de que este ejemplar sea tan detallado es porque es una edición especial conmemorativa a los 400 años de la primera aparición del clásico Don Quijote de la Mancha, celebrado obviamente en ese año 2005.
Now, moving on to the second version, we have three copies that correspond to this same story, but segmented into parts 1, 2 and 3, under the creation and adaptation of Antonio Albarrán and the Planeta publishing house, and published in 1975 in Barcelona, Spain, this being the story told in comic form and with a detail that gives it more prominence, which is that it mixes drawing with photography, an art that was seen in old stories at my school and that I personally loved to see again.
Ahora bien, pasando a la segunda versión, tenemos tres ejemplares que corresponden a esta misma historia, pero segmentada en parte 1, 2 y 3, bajo la creación y adaptación de Antonio Albarrán y la editorial Planeta, y publicadas en el año 1975 en Barcelona, España, siendo esta la historia contada en forma de cómic y con un detalle que da más realce, el cual es que mezcla el dibujo con la fotografía, un arte que se veía en cuentos antiguos en mi colegio y que personalmente me encantó volver a ver.
With a very colorful illustration and landscapes that seem like postcards, it seeks a way to introduce the little ones to the adventure in a fun way that does not get tiring, since the design of the characters enhances the desire to be there watching non-stop, with striking colors and texts between actions that even resemble a live cartoon since it manages to get more than one laugh at the way in which our hidalgo is shown sighing for his Dulcinea and that each part becomes more striking and visually beautiful than the previous one, it becomes faster for children and even for you as a curious reader to know and read Don Quixote than we would in a larger book.
Con una ilustración muy colorida y paisajes que llegan a parecer postales, busca la forma de introducir a los pequeños en la aventura de una forma divertida y que no llega a cansar, ya que el diseño de los personajes realza las ganas de estar allí viendo sin parar, con colores llamativos y textos entre acciones que incluso asemejan una caricatura en vivo ya que nos logra sacar más de una risa por la forma en la que se nos muestra a nuestro hidalgo suspirar por su dulcinea y que cada parte llega a ser más llamativa y hermosa visualmente que la anterior, llega a ser más rápido para los niños e incluso para uno como curioso lector conocer y leer a don Quijote de lo que lo haríamos en un libro más grande.
And both versions, the commemorative one for young people as well as the one for children, manage to capture their audience with an ideal format. In the first case, the amount of extra information that I feel is more than beneficial for the young person who wants to know more or who perhaps finds it a tool due to their studies, is also a good example, while for children, in its version, it manages to encourage and activate that imagination and emotion through visuals, reaching, and I dare say, that it can be enjoyed by all audiences, not necessarily a specific age.
Y es que ambas versiones, tanto la que es conmemorativa y para jóvenes como la que es para niños, logran captar a su público con un formato idóneo, siendo en el primero la cantidad de información extra que siento es más que beneficiosa para el joven que quiere saber más o que tal vez por sus estudios le sea una herramienta, como para los niños en su versión, logre incentivar y activar esa imaginación y emoción a través de lo visual, llegando, y me atrevo a decir, que pueda ser disfrutable por todo público, no necesariamente con una edad específica.
