In this story we are introduced to the main characters, Laia and Elias. These are two young people, struggling to find their place in a severely oppressive system.... Laia is a lower class girl whose family is attacked, so she is forced to infiltrate a military academy in order to spy for the resistance and save her brother. Elias, on the other hand, is an elite soldier, who has great skill in combat, but who carries within himself a great rejection of the tyranny of the empire.

Hola a todos, querida comunidad lectora de Hive! Espero se encuentren muy bien el día de hoy.. en esta ocasión les quiero compartir mi opinión de la novela de fantasía titulada: "Una Llama Entre Cenizas”. La empecé a leer por recomendación de una amiga, y pues investigando un poco sobre ella, decidí darle una oportunidad. Esta historia se ambienta en un mundo distópico (justo como me gustan jaja) que está algo inspirado en el imperio romano, aquí la crueldad se nota bastante.. Dando una sensación de cierta desesperanza clásica que seguramente algunos de ustedes habrán leído.
En esta historia se nos presentan a los personajes principales, Laia y Elias. Estos son dos jóvenes, que lucharan para encontrar su lugar en un sistema severamente opresivo.. Laia es una chica de clase baja, cuya familia es atacada, por lo que ella se ve en la obligación de infiltrarse en una academia militar, con el fin de espiar para la resistencia y asi salvar a su hermano. Por otro lado, Elias, es un soldado de elite, que tiene mucha habilidad en combate, pero que lleva por dentro un gran rechazo hacia la tiranía del imperio.
The way the author intertwines the perspectives of these two characters is great...she shows us all their motivations, fears, and longings. Allowing the reader to create that dear, long-awaited emotional connection, the one that makes us want to join them on their perilous journey, and genuinely care about them. The tension and danger, kept me glued, as did the trials that the aspirants to the throne are put through. I feel that this work is very well constructed narratively, you can see the love they put into this world, with its own mythology, with interesting creatures... the feeling of impregnated atmosphere, the walled cities, and wild parties, creates a backdrop that gives a very good feeling, this complements the story a lot.

La forma en la que la autora entrelaza las perspectivas de estos dos personajes es genial.. nos muestra todas sus motivaciones, temores, y anhelos. Permitiendo al lector crear esa querida y esperada conexión emocional, esa que nos hace querer acompañarlos en su peligroso viaje, y preocuparnos genuinamente por ellos. La tensión y el peligro, me mantuvieron pegado, como también las pruebas a las que son sometidos los aspirantes al trono. Siento que esta obra está muy bien construida narrativamente, se nota el cariño que le pusieron a este mundo, con una mitología propia, con interesantes criaturas.. la sensación de ambientación impregnada, las ciudades amuralladas, y las fiestas salvajes, crea un telón que da una muy buena sensación, esto complementa mucho la historia.
One of the points where I think this novel stands out is how it touches on themes such as oppression and resistance. With these characters, it explores all those existing consequences of living in a system that crushes all the weak, leaving nothing, and that need to challenge the order that is already established, even if it means making sacrifices. The relationship between Laia and Elias, all that forbidden attraction... and the constant threats they face, was an element that I liked a lot, and that became crucial in the plot.
This bond is handled in a good way, which like everything, has its ups and downs, but it is a captivating experience. I thought it was an excellent work of fantastic literature, the world that Sabaa Tahir created is very cool, full of complex characters and a hooking plot, if it keeps you waiting for the end... I feel that many will like it, if you like stories of resistance, coupled with fantasy, sure you will end up hooked. I give it a rating of... 4/5. Uno de los puntos donde creo que destaca mucho esta novela, es como toca temas como la opresión y la resistencia. Con estos personajes, se explora todas esas consecuencias existentes de vivir en un sistema que aplasta a todos los débiles, sin dejar nada, y esa necesidad de desafiar el orden que ya está establecido, incluso si eso significa hacer sacrificios. La relación entre Laia y Elias, toda esa atracción prohibida.. y las constantes amenazas que enfrentan, fue un elemento que me gusto mucho, y que se volvió crucial en la trama.
Se maneja de una buena manera este vínculo, que como todo, tiene sus altibajos, pero que resulta cautivadora la experiencia. Me pareció una excelente obra de literatura fantástica, el mundo que creo Sabaa Tahir es muy genial, lleno de personajes complejos y una trama enganchante, si te mantiene pendiente de como terminara.. Siento que a muchos les gustara, si te gustan las historias de resistencias, sumadas a la fantasía, seguro terminas enganchadísimo. Le doy una calificación de.. 4/5.
