Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing great, today I want to talk to you about a very interesting book, it's: Different, by Eloy Moreno, I started reading it without having any idea what it was about, because, strangely enough... You get into the story blindly and you discover it as if you were opening a present... and what a gift... the protagonist, Luna, is a 13 year old girl who has a brilliant mind, but her body... well, her body puts up a lot of obstacles... She lives with ALS, Tourette's, and brain cancer, but the way she sees the world is unique, incredible, from page one, Luna is not just another character... her ability to learn languages so easily, her way of finding patterns where others only see a mess, and how she challenges adults with questions that leave you speechless, make her someone you can't ignore, she doesn't fit into what society calls 'normal', and that makes you think, what the hell does it really mean to be 'normal'?
Her intelligence and the way she analyses everything shake you from the first page... it's as if she forces you to see life with different eyes, totally different, the story is told from two points of view: Luna's and her psychologist's... this play of voices, and also the fact that the story jumps between the present in Poland and the past in Spain, gives the novel a depth that is crazy... from the first pages, you feel that there is something more hidden behind what they are telling you, and that creates a tension that traps you and does not let you go, that's what I can tell you.
Hola a todos, espero que estén genial, en el día de hoy, les quiero hablar sobre un libro muy interesante, se trata de: Different, de Eloy Moreno, lo empecé a leer sin tener ni idea de qué iba, porque, cosa rara.. Te metes en la historia así a ciegas y la vas descubriendo como si estuvieras abriendo un regalo... y qué regalazo.. la protagonista, Luna, es una niña de 13 años que tiene una mente brillante, pero su cuerpo... bueno, su cuerpo le pone un montón de obstáculos.. Vive con ALS, Tourette y cáncer cerebral, pero la forma en que ve el mundo es única, increíble, desde la página uno, Luna no es un personaje más.. su capacidad para aprender idiomas así de fácil, su forma de encontrar patrones donde los demás solo vemos un desastre, y cómo desafía a los adultos con preguntas que te dejan sin palabras, la hacen alguien que no puedes ignorar, ella no encaja en lo que la sociedad llama 'normal', y eso te hace pensar, ¿qué carajos significa ser 'normal' realmente?
Su inteligencia y cómo analiza todo te sacuden desde la primera página.. es como si te obligara a ver la vida con otros ojos, totalmente diferente, la historia te la cuentan desde dos puntos de vista: el de Luna y el de su psicóloga.. este juego de voces, y además que la historia salta entre el presente en Polonia y el pasado en España, le da una profundidad a la novela que es una locura.. desde las primeras páginas, sientes que hay algo más escondido detrás de lo que te cuentan, y eso te crea una tensión que te atrapa y no te suelta, así te lo digo.
What I liked most about this book is how it is written, seriously! Eloy Moreno has a way of narrating that hooks you from the beginning, with short chapters and sentences that leave you thinking... it is not a heavy book, not at all, but it is one of those that, without you realizing it, moves you emotionally... a symbol that I found beautiful is Luna's hat, I don't want to spoil it, but it is much more than a simple accessory... it is like her refuge, her imagination, and how she connects with the world... it is incredible how something so simple can mean so much in the story, the reflections that the book leaves you with are powerful... it talks about life and death without so much drama, but with an honesty that hurts, but at the same time comforts you, do you understand me? It also reminds you how much we leave things for later... that of "I'll call him tomorrow", "I'll tell him later that I love him", "another day I'll make time for this"... But, what if that tomorrow never comes?
It made me think about how many times we take time and people for granted, as if everything was going to be there forever... and the ending... prepare for the ending. No spoilers, but it leaves you with a lump in your throat and makes you want to reread some parts to make sure you understood well... it's one of those endings that forces you to close the book and stay silent for a while, processing everything that happened. If I had to say something that could have been better, it would be that perhaps I would have liked to know a little bit more about some secondary characters, like Luna's family or the other patients at the hospital. Their moments with Luna are important, but sometimes I felt that they lacked a little more insight into their lives and what they were like.
Lo que más me gustó de este libro es cómo está escrito, ¡en serio! Eloy Moreno tiene una forma de narrar que te engancha desde el inicio, con capítulos cortitos y frases que te dejan pensando.. no es un libro pesado, para nada, pero sí es de esos que, sin que te des cuenta, te mueve el piso emocionalmente.. un símbolo que me pareció hermoso es el gorrito de Luna, no les quiero spoilear, pero es mucho más que un simple accesorio.. es como su refugio, su imaginación, y cómo se conecta con el mundo.. es increíble cómo algo tan sencillo puede significar tanto en la historia, las reflexiones que te deja el libro son potentes.. habla de la vida y la muerte sin tanto drama, sino con una honestidad que duele, pero a la vez te reconforta, ¿me entienden? También te recuerda cuánto dejamos las cosas para después.. eso de "mañana lo llamo", "después le digo que lo quiero", "otro día me hago tiempo para esto"... Pero, ¿y si ese mañana nunca llega?
A mí me dejó pensando en cuántas veces damos por sentado el tiempo y a la gente, como si todo fuera a estar ahí siempre.. y el final... prepárense para el final. Sin spoilers, pero te deja con un nudo en la garganta y dan ganas de volver a leer algunas partes para asegurarte de que entendiste bien.. es de esos finales que te obligan a cerrar el libro y quedarte en silencio un rato, procesando todo lo que pasó, si tuviera que decir algo que podría haber estado mejor, sería que quizás me hubiera gustado saber un poquito más de algunos personajes secundarios, como la familia de Luna o los otros pacientes del hospital, sus momentos con Luna son importantes, pero a veces sentí que faltó meterse un poco más en sus vidas y cómo eran.
To be honest, there are parts where you feel like the story focuses so much on Luna and the psychologist that the other characters are left a little behind... but, let's see, it's a small detail compared to everything this book makes you feel, there's no doubt about that! Who do I recommend this little gem to? To anyone who is looking for a story that touches the soul... if you like those books that make you think about life, death, how we connect with others and how important it is to be yourself, even if you are different, this book is for you... it's not a story to laugh out loud, but it's not going to depress you either, it's intense, it moves you and it has its moments of light, it's not just a book about Luna, it's about all of us, you know?
It reminds us how many times we feel out of place in life, how we try to fit into a world that sometimes doesn't understand us, just like Luna, we can find our refuge in the imagination, in the people who truly love us and in accepting us as we are, it makes you think about how we see life, how we treat those who are different from what we think is "normal" and, above all, how we use (or waste) the time we have, it is very important today... I give it a rating of 5/5. Without a doubt I recently read it a lot... and well, without further ado, I'll see you in the next reviews, take care of yourselves! Byebye
Siendo sincero, hay partes donde sientes que la historia se enfoca tanto en Luna y la psicóloga que los demás personajes quedan un poco atrás.. pero, a ver, es un detalle chiquito comparado con todo lo que te hace sentir este libro, ¡eso ni dudarlo! ¿A quién le recomiendo esta joyita? A cualquiera que ande buscando una historia que le llegue al alma.. si te gustan esos libros que te ponen a pensar en la vida, en la muerte, en cómo nos conectamos con otros y en lo importante que es ser uno mismo, aunque seas diferente, este libro es para ti.. no es una historia para reírse a carcajadas, pero tampoco te va a deprimir, es intensa, te emociona y tiene sus momentos de luz, no es solo un libro sobre Luna, es sobre todos nosotros,
Nos recuerda cómo muchas veces nos sentimos como fuera de lugar en la vida, cómo buscamos encajar en un mundo que a veces no nos entiende, igual que Luna, podemos encontrar nuestro refugio en la imaginación, en la gente que nos quiere de verdad y en aceptarnos tal cual somos, te hace pensar en cómo vemos la vida, cómo tratamos a los que son diferentes a lo que creemos "normal" y, sobre todo, cómo usamos (o desperdiciamos) el tiempo que tenemos, es muy importante hoy en día.. le doy una calificación de 5/5. Veo que este libro te movió la fibra más profunda, indiscutiblemente. Me parece acertado cuando una obra puede hacernos reflexionar y cambiar nuestra actitud frente a la vida, no podemos dar nada por sentado, ni el tiempo ni las personas que están a nuestro alrededor. No sabemos cuándo será el final para nosotros y, mucho menos, para ellos.
