Hello everyone, fans of good stories! I hope you are all well, today I wanted to share with this great community of Hive Book Club a new review, this time I want to talk about a book that I finished a few days ago, it's called: "Hart's Ridge" by Kay Bratt and it's one of those books that drive you crazy because of how good they are.. from the beginning, the book grabs you with a scene that leaves you thinking, but at the same time touches your heart: a five-year-old girl, Molly, appears at a gas station, alone and almost without speaking.. that moment already tells you what it's about, it puts you in a mystery that happens in a small town full of secrets, and promises that you're going to have suspense and good drama.. to me, when Molly appeared out of nowhere, it impressed me, it's that seeing such a small, helpless girl makes you want to protect her from minute one.. that's where Taylor Gray comes in, the protagonist, who is the town sheriff, she is not only the only female police officer in a town lost in the mountains, Not only does Bratt have her own story, but she also has her own personal story. Taylor is not your typical perfect heroine, her past, with poverty and a very complicated foster care system, makes her super real, you can see that she has had a terrible time, but her strength to do the right thing and, above all, to help Molly, is to be admired...
One of the most interesting things about the book is how Bratt leads you through the story... her way of writing is like a perfect mix between a police drama, like series like "Blue Bloods" or "Law and Order", and more personal moments that show you Taylor's life, the author achieves an incredible balance between the tense scenes when they try to solve the case and those quieter moments where you find out about the problems and internal struggles of the protagonist... that combination of mystery and personal life is what makes "Hart's Ridge" so special.
Hola a todos, fanáticos de las buenas historias! Espero que se encuentren bien, hoy quería compartir con esta gran comunidad de Hive Book Club una nueva reseña, esta vez les quiero hablar de un libro que termine hace unos pocos días, se llama: "Hart’s Ridge" de Kay Bratt y es de esos libros que te dejan loco se lo buenos que son.. desde el principio, el libro te agarra con una escena que te deja pensando, pero a la vez te toca el corazón: una niña de cinco años, Molly, aparece en una gasolinera, solita y casi sin hablar.. ese momentazo ya te dice de qué va la cosa, te mete en un misterio que pasa en un pueblo chico lleno de secretos, y te promete que vas a tener suspenso y drama del bueno.. a mí, cuando apareció Molly así de la nada, me impresionó, es que ver a una niña tan chiquita, tan desamparada, te da unas ganas de protegerla desde el minuto uno.. ahí es donde entra Taylor Gray, la protagonista, que es la sherif del pueblo, ella no solo es la única mujer policía en un pueblo perdido en las montañas, sino que también tiene su propia historia intentas. Taylor no es la típica heroína perfecta, su pasado, con pobreza y un sistema de acogida bien complicado, la hace súper real, se nota que la ha pasado fatal, pero su fuerza para hacer lo correcto y, sobre todo, para ayudar a Molly, es de admirar..
Una de las cosas más interesantes del libro es cómo Bratt te va llevando la historia.. su forma de escribir es como una mezcla perfecta entre un drama policial, onda series como “Blue Bloods” o “La Ley y el Orden”, y momentos más personales que te muestran la vida de Taylor, la autora logra un equilibrio increíble entre las escenas de tensión cuando intentan resolver el caso y esos momentos más tranquilos donde te enteras de los problemas y las luchas internas de la protagonista.. esa combinación de misterio y vida personal es lo que hace que "Hart’s Ridge" sea tan especial.
I really liked the characters in this book. For example, Taylor is a very complex and real character, one of those that you totally believe in. Besides having to deal with sexism at work, she also has to take care of her alcoholic father and her sisters. Imagine that, which makes her vulnerable but also very strong. It's impossible not to feel empathy for her. Her personal struggle blends perfectly with Molly's case, so every step she takes feels real and earned.
And I can't stop talking about Bernard, Taylor's dog. Bernard is not only a faithful dog, but his mysterious past and how loyal he is, give him tender moments that balance out the harshness of the story. It's a nice detail that helps Taylor to be even more human and to tone down the intensity of the investigation a bit. The place where it all happens, Hart's Ridge, is another strong point of the book. Hart's Ridge is presented to us as a cute town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, but you already know how it is, behind that pretty facade there are hidden secrets that destroy that perfect image of the place, the author includes real details, like mentioning places in Georgia, that gives it a touch of authenticity and makes the place feel real, as if it really existed.
Los personajes en este libro me gustaron mucho, Taylor, por ejemplo, es un personaje súper complejo y real, de esos que te crees totalmente.. además de tener que lidiar con el machismo en su trabajo, también se echa al hombro el cuidado de su papá alcohólico y de sus hermanas, imaginense.. eso la hace vulnerable pero a la vez súper fuerte.. y es que es imposible no sentir empatía por ella, y su lucha personal se mezcla perfecto con el caso de Molly, así que cada paso que da se siente como algo real y que se ha ganado.
Y no puedo dejar de hablarles de Bernard, el perro de Taylor, Bernard no es solo un perro fiel, sino que su pasado misterioso y lo leal que es, le dan momentos tiernos que balancean lo duro de la historia.. es un detalle lindo que ayuda a que Taylor sea aún más humana y a bajarle un poco a la intensidad de la investigación. El lugar donde pasa todo, Hart's Ridge, es otro punto fuerte del libro.. nos presentan Hart's Ridge como un pueblo lindo en las Montañas Blue Ridge, pero ya saben cómo es, detrás de esa fachada bonita se esconden secretos que van destruyendo esa imagen perfecta del lugar, la autora mete detalles reales, como mencionar lugares de Georgia, eso le da un toque de autenticidad y hace que el lugar se sienta real, como si existiera de verdad.
However, I have to tell you something, sometimes the story goes a little bit to the side of… how to put it?… like it gives too many thumbs up to the police, you know? There are moments where it gets too pro-police, and some people might not like that so much… but still, I think that how good the story is and how great Taylor is makes you forget about that little detail. This book is a super good mix of police drama and a story starring a strong woman, so if you like mysteries with intense emotions, you will love this book. If you are one of those who enjoy stories of overcoming, complicated families and small-town secrets, "Hart's Ridge" is a read that will captivate you, and if you get hooked on this first book, good news, it is the first in a series! I give it a rating of 4/5.
The next one, "Lucy in the Sky", promises more surprises and moments that touch your heart, and well, this read left me happy and wanting more of this world that Kay Bratt created... the story moves quickly between Molly's mystery and Taylor's complicated life, so every page has something that catches you, if you like a good story that tells you about getting ahead and being strong, I recommend you give it a chance, and well... that's all for today haha, I hope you feel encouraged to give it a chance, we'll see you in the next reviews, take care, byebye.
Sin embargo, tengo que decirles algo, a veces la historia se va un poquito para el lado de… ¿cómo decirlo?… como que le tira mucha flores a la policía, ¿saben? hay momentos donde se pone demasiado pro-policía, y eso a algunos quizás no les guste tanto.. pero igual, yo creo que lo buena que es la historia y lo genial que es Taylor hacen que uno se olvide de ese detallito. Este libro es una mezcla súper buena de drama policial y una historia protagonizada por una mujer fuerte, así que si te gustan los misterios con emociones intensas, este libro te va a encantar, si eres de los que disfrutan las historias de superación, las familias complicadas y los secretos de pueblo chico, "Hart’s Ridge" es una lectura que te va a atrapar, y si te enganchas con este primer libro, buena noticia, ¡es el primero de una serie! Yo le doy una calificación de 4/5.
El que sigue, "Lucy in the Sky", promete más sorpresas y momentos que te llegan al corazón, y bueno, esta lectura me dejó contento y con ganas de más de este mundo que creó Kay Bratt.. la historia se mueve rápido entre el misterio de Molly y la vida complicada de Taylor, así que cada página tiene algo que te atrapa, si gustas de una buena historia de esas que te hablan de salir adelante y ser fuerte, te recomiendo que le des una oportunidad, y bueno.. eso es todo por hoy jaja, espero que se animen a darle una oportunidad, nos veremos en las próximas reseñas, cuídense, byebye.
