Hello everyone, reading-loving community, I hope you are all doing great today. Today I wanted to bring you a new review with my personal opinions. This time I will talk about the book: "Reminders of Him" by Colleen Hoover and... this book can really touch your heartstrings... from page one I was hooked on Kenna's story, this girl who gets out of jail after five years due to a super tragic accident where her boyfriend Scotty was involved. Now she just wants to meet her daughter, the baby she could never hold in her arms... the plot is one of those that breaks your heart, but at the same time leaves you wanting to know more, do you understand?
We see how Kenna fights to win back her daughter's love, but Scotty's parents, who are the ones who raised the girl, don't want to see her, and in a way it makes sense, if they are clinging to the memory of their son... that dynamic totally caught me and made me question a lot of things while the story took me here and there like a roller coaster. But what I liked the most was how Hoover writes, it's like she's telling you everything in a conversation between friends, so relaxed... her way of writing is simple, but it reaches your soul, each word touches you in an incredible way, the story flows in a great way, it transports you to that small town and puts you fully in the complicated feelings of the characters. She describes everything so well that you feel right there, living each situation, and even the unexpected twists seem super real... seriously, each line of this book makes you think and feel, it keeps you glued to the pages, it captivates you in the best way, it's one of those that changes the way you see many things.
Hola a todos, comunidad amante de la lectura, espero que hoy se encuentren súper bien, les quería traer el día de hoy una nueva reseña con mis opiniones personales, esta vez les hablaré del libro: "Reminders of Him" de Colleen Hoover y… de verdad que este libro puede tocar tus fibras sensibles.. desde la página uno me enganché con la historia de Kenna, esta chica que sale de la cárcel después de cinco años por un accidente súper trágico donde estuvo involucrado su novio Scotty, ahora ella solo quiere conocer a su hija, a la bebé que nunca pudo tener en sus brazos.. la trama es de esas que te destrozan el corazón, pero al mismo tiempo te dejan queriendo saber más, ¿me entienden?
Vemos cómo Kenna lucha por recuperar el amor de su hija, pero los papás de Scotty, que son los que han criado a la niña, no la quieren ni ver, y en cierta parte tiene sentido, si están aferrados al recuerdo de su hijo.. esa dinámica me atrapó totalmente y me hizo cuestionarme un montón de cosas mientras la historia me llevaba de aquí para allá como una montaña rusa. Pero lo que más me gustó, fue cómo escribe Hoover, es como si te estuviera contando todo en una conversación de amigas, así relajada.. su forma de escribir es sencilla, pero te llega al alma, cada palabra te toca de una manera increíble, la historia fluye de una manera genial, te transporta a ese pueblito chiquito y te mete de lleno en los sentimientos complicados de los personajes. Describe todo tan bien que te sientes ahí mismo, viviendo cada situación, y hasta los giros inesperados te parecen súper reales.. en serio, cada línea de este libro te hace pensar y sentir, te mantiene pegado a las páginas, te cautiva de la mejor manera, es de esas que te cambian la manera de ver muchas cosas.
The characters in this book really stay in your mind. Kenna is a protagonist that touches your heart, she is super hurt by everything that happened to her, but at the same time she is strong and wants to fix things, that makes her very human... her fight to get her daughter back touches your heartstrings, and at the same time you understand the pain of Scotty's parents, who lost their son and now see the girl as the only thing they have left of him... and to add more to the story, Ledger appears, this guy who works in a bar, he is super charismatic, he adds a touch of unexpected romance because he begins to feel attracted to Kenna without knowing all the problems of her past.
Hoover is a genius at showing emotions, she presents you with different points of view and makes you think that things are not black or white, the book makes you reflect on forgiveness, responsibility and how our actions have consequences... that gives an incredible depth to the story, one thing that I loved is how this author handles emotions, it takes you up and down all the time... the scenes between Kenna and Ledger are great, they give a fresh touch to the plot. But be careful, not everything is perfect... some parts where they talk about laws are very simple, and the jail thing sometimes feels a little exaggerated, also, Scotty's parents are sometimes too bad, almost villains, although one understands their pain... those little details, although they are my personal opinion, take away a bit of realism from the story. But still, the way the story grabs you and how intense the emotions are make it totally worth reading, even though it is not perfect, it is a book that is not easily forgotten, I assure you.
Los personajes de este libro, de verdad que se te quedan grabados en la mente, Kenna es una protagonista que te llega al corazón, está súper lastimada por todo lo que le pasó, pero al mismo tiempo es fuerte y quiere arreglar las cosas, eso la hace muy humana.. su lucha por recuperar a su hija te toca la fibra sensible, y al mismo tiempo entiendes el dolor de los papás de Scotty, que perdieron a su hijo y ahora ven a la niña como lo único que les queda de él.. y para sumarle más a la historia, aparece Ledger, este chico que trabaja en un bar, es súper carismático, él le pone un toque de romance inesperado porque se empieza a sentir atraído por Kenna sin saber todo el problemón de su pasado.
Hoover es una genia para mostrar las emociones, te presenta diferentes puntos de vista y te hace pensar que las cosas no son blancas o negras, el libro te hace reflexionar sobre el perdón, la responsabilidad y cómo nuestras acciones tienen consecuencias.. eso le da una profundidad increíble a la historia, una cosa que me encantó es cómo está autora maneja las emociones, te lleva de arriba a abajo todo el tiempo.. las escenas entre Kenna y Ledger son geniales, le dan un toque fresco a la trama. Pero ojo, no todo es perfecto.. algunas partes donde hablan de leyes son como muy simples, y lo de la cárcel a veces se siente un poco exagerado, además, los papás de Scotty a veces son como demasiado malos, casi villanos, aunque uno entiende su dolor.. esos detallitos, aunque son mi opinión personal, le quitan un poco de realismo a la historia. Pero igual, la forma en que te atrapa la historia y lo intensas que son las emociones hacen que valga totalmente la pena leerlo, a pesar de que no sea perfecto, es un libro que no se olvida fácilmente, te lo aseguro.
Reminders of Him is one of those books that, although they aren't perfect, leave you thinking a lot... if you like stories that make you see how complicated relationships are and the difficult decisions we make in life, without giving you easy answers, this book is for you, really! If you are one of those who likes to be pushed out of their boxes and shown different points of view, you are going to love this book, it is an emotional journey with a lot of surprises... I give it a 3.5/5, being honest, because although the emotions reach your soul and the characters feel super real, some little things like the laws and some characters that are a little flat, the somewhat uneven rhythm, are things that could have been polished more... but the ending is beautiful, it reaches your heart and stays with you... so if you are looking for a book that makes you feel everything and think deeply, give it a chance. Reminders of Him es de esos libros que, aunque no son perfectos, te dejan pensando un montón.. si a ti te gustan las historias que te hacen ver lo complicadas que son las relaciones y las decisiones difíciles que tomamos en la vida, sin que te den respuestas fáciles, este libro es para ti, ¡de verdad! Si eres de los que les gusta que los saquen de sus casillas y que les muestren diferentes puntos de vista, vas a amar este libro, es un viaje emocional con un montón de sorpresas.. yo le doy un 3.5/5, siendo sincero, porque aunque las emociones te llegan al alma y los personajes se sienten súper reales, algunas cositas como lo de las leyes y algunos personajes que quedan un poco planos, el ritmo algo desigual, son cosas que se podrían haber pulido más.. pero el final es precioso, te llega al corazón y se te queda grabado.. así que si buscas un libro que te haga sentir de todo y pensar profundo, dale una oportunidad. Oh my God!!! Colleen Hoover! I haven’t read her in a while but I binged on almost all of her books in 2022. She really does have a unique writing style and is one of my favorite authors after C.M Owens (God rest her soul). M
This book left me in awe. It has been a while but I remember how much emotions I felt and how they contradicted each other so much I felt like I was going to have a heart attack. This is a beautiful review too.
