As you know I like Punisher's adventures, I recently purchased something brand new rally so I had some concerns if it would be as good as MAX
Punisher from the Marvel Knights series is a great story that keeps you in suspense as to what will happen.
As I've mentioned a few times before, the combination of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon is always a mix of exaggerated and quite strong humor and that's the case here.
This is another combined force of writer and illustrator this time creating two mini-series Punisher 2000 and 2001
The first story throws the reader into the middle of the crusade that Frank is carrying out, this time the main evil adversary is an elderly woman called Mother Gnucci ( Mother), who rules New York, and Castle slowly but steadily frees the city from more criminals. In the evenings he returns to the block where, under a disguised name, he tries to somehow live in peace.
Gnucci has sent the police to Catsle( because he has awkward evidence on the mayor and the chief), but none of the policemen want to take up the challenge of capturing Castle and here comes Soap, who is not very smart is tasked with capturing the Punisher. Soap also has the help of a mysterious agent who in turn is tasked with capturing Gnucci, two rather extreme and impossible actions cause them to wait for events to unfold and sufficiently capture the survivors.
The Punisher living in the block tries to talk as little as possible so that no one will like him, but the later situation will force him to open up and reveal his intentions.
The whole sequence with living in the Punisher's apartment block and with quite specific tenants was touched upon in the film version of The Avenger, but in the movie a huge amount of things were left out.
The Punisher decides to get rid of Mother Gnucci, but doesn't realize that her madness and determination to live will make it no easy task and will spill more blood than a mosquito.
The closer we get to the 2000 finale, the more we experience more and more injuries on the Punisher's body, where every now and then he is in agony, and yet by some miracle he is alive.
The biggest opponent right next to the old woman is the mysterious "Rusk" who crushes everyone with his hands.
In addition to the main plot, Punisher will also have to defeat self-proclaimed avengers who, in the name of their nationalist views, begin to create chaos in the streets.
2001 is a further continuation of the threads from the 2000 installment, where we learn the fate of the characters as they ended up and what stage they are currently at.
Frank continues his crusade, which has more humor in these notebooks.
The whole thing reads as well as Max feels the atmosphere here, the light brutality and stories that draw you in from the first pages.
2000 is more dark, it reads like an action movie where every page of the comic is covered with a ton of lead and reflexes, 2001 is a more laid back story where one of the most evil characters returns to spoil the Punisher's plans again, albeit in a specific outfit ;)
The second volume that is Punisher 2001 more directed on how people are messed up inside and out that is what Garth Ennis likes to do
The whole 2000 and 2001 reads very quickly, the plot is really interestingly led, so it draws you in and even despite the small bumps it does not make it boring, in fact it provides entertainment such as we require from this character.
You can feel the inspiration of old action movies here, where the main character "carried by death" has to trust strangers to help him and jointly save what they care about.
The drawings are typical of Steve's quite distinctive characters often with strong coins known from his collaboration with Ennis.
If you like the Punisher character and are familiar with the Max series, you'll find two nicely realized stories in this series, where the Punisher continues to be who he's always been without any embellishment, while the side characters have their rather odd moments.
I personally recommend it because the story of Mother Gnucci is one of the most interesting, full of twists and turns and black humor, and on top of all this unconventional ways out of situations
The whole for me is a strong 8/10 because it reads really fast and the story draws you in from beginning to end, even the humor threads can really amuse.

Jak już kilka razy wspomniałem połączenie Garth Ennis i Steve Dillon to zawsze mieszkanka przerysowana i dość mocnym humorem i tak jest tutaj.
To kolejne połączone siły scenarzysty i rysownika tym razem tworząc dwie mini serie Punisher 2000 oraz 2001
Pierwsza z opowieści wrzuca czytelnika w sam środek krucjaty jaka dokonuje Frank, tym razem głównym złym przeciwnikiem jest starsza kobieta zwana Matka Gnucci ( Mateczka), która rządzi w Nowym Yorku, a Castle powoli, ale systematycznie uwalnia miasto od kolejnych przestępców. Wieczorami wraca do bloku gdzie pod przebranym imieniem próbuje jakoś żyć w spokoju.
Gnucci nasyła na Catsle policję( gdyż ma niezręczne dowody na burmistrza i komendanta), jednak nikt z policjantów nie chce podejmować się wyzwania schwytania Castle i tutaj pojawia się Soap, który niezbyt jest rozgarnięty ma za zadanie schwytać Punishera. Soap ma tez pomoc tajemnicza agentkę która z koleji ma za zadanie pojmać Gnucci, dwie dość skrajne i niemożliwe akcje powodują, ze czekają na rozwój wydarzeń i dostatecznie schwytają tych co przeżyją.
Punisher żyjąc w bloku stara się jak najmniej mówić by nikt nie polubił go jednak późniejsza sytuacja zmusi go do tego, ze się otworzy i zdradzi swoje zamiary.
Cała sekwencja z mieszkaniem w bloku Punishera oraz z dość specyficznymi lokatorami byl poruszany w wersji filmowej o mścicielu, jednak w filmie ogrom rzeczy zostało pominiętych.
Punisher postanawia pozbyć się Mateczki Gnucci, jednak nie zdaje sobie sprawy ze jej szaleństwo i determinacja życia spowodują, ze nie będzie to łatwe zadanie i napsuje krwi więcej niż komar.
Im bliżej finału 2000 tym bardziej doświadczamy coraz to nowych obrażeń na ciele Punishera, gdzie co chwile jest w stanie już agonalnym, a mimo to jakimś cudem żyje.
Największym przeciwnikiem zaraz obok starszej kobiety jest tajemniczy „Rusek” który miażdży wszystkich rękami.
Prócz głównego wątku Punisher będzie musiał tez pokonać samozwańczych mścicieli, którzy w imię swoich nacjonalistycznych poglądów zaczynaja tworzyć chaos na ulicach.
2001 to dalsza kontynuacja wątków z części z 2000, gdzie poznajemy losy bohaterów jak skończyli i na jakim etapie aktualnie są.
Frank dalej prowadzi swoją krucjatę, która w tych zeszytach ma większa dozę humoru.
Całość się czyta równie dobrze jak Max czuć tutaj klimat, lekka brutalność oraz historie, które wciągają od pierwszych kartek.
2000 jest bardziej mroczna, czyta się jak kino akcji gdzie każda karta komiksu jest pokryta tona ołowiu i refleksu, 2001 to bardziej wyluzowana historia gdzie wraca jedna z zlowieszych postaci by znów popsuć plany Punisherowi, choć w specyficznym stroju ;)
Drugi tom czyli Punisher 2001 bardziej skierowany na tym jak ludzie są popsuci wewnątrz i z zewnątrz czyli to co lubi Garth Ennis
Całość 2000 i 2001 czyta się bardzo szybko ,akcja jest na prawdę ciekawie poprowadzona stad wciąga i nawet mimo małych zgrzytów powoduje, ze nie nudzi, a wręcz dostarcza rozrywki taka jaka wymagamy od tej postaci.
Czuć tutaj inspiracje starym kinem akcji gdzie główny bohater „noszony przez smierć” musi zaufać obcym ludziom by mu pomogli i wspólnymi siłami ocalali to na czym im zależy.
Rysunki to typowe dla Steve”a dość charakterystyczne postacie czesto z mocnymi monetami znanymi z współpracy z Ennisem.
Jeśli lubicie postać Punishera i kojarzycie serie Max to w tej serii znajdziecie dwie fajnie zrealizowane historie, gdzie Punisher dalej jest tym kim zawsze był bez żadnego upiększania, zaś postacie poboczne miewają swoje dość dziwne momenty.
Osobiście polecam bo historia o Mateczce Gnucci jest jedna z ciekawszych, pełna zwrotów akcji i czarnego humoru, a do tego wszystkiego niekonwencjonalne wyjścia z sytuacji
Całość dla mnie to mocne 8/10 bo czyta się naprawdę szybko i historia wciąga od początku do końca, nawet wątki humorystyczne potrafią naprawdę rozbawić.
