I was reviewing the books that I left in the small bookcase of my workspace, on December 31st already and I had to choose which of those books I would start the challenge with. I had a clear objective, which was to read books that would help me to continue my personal and professional development.

With which to start if both in the list of physical and digital books I had placed interesting titles and books recommended by people I trusted.
There were only a few hours left for the new year to start and with it the schedule I had arranged to read every day. As the choice was getting complicated because I wanted to read them all at the same time, I decided to relax by watching "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone."
In the scene inside the library, when Ron and Harry are researching Nicolas Flamel, Hermione arrives and drops a huge book on the table while saying that she had taken it out because she wanted to have some light reading. That sentence was the one that helped me choose the first book.
Having left the book selection until the last minute, it gave my brain time to spin the different selection criteria.
I knew there were more interesting books, but I thought this might be something light to get back into the reading habit.
So I took the opportunity to choose not only the one for the first week, but the ones for the whole month, based on the fact that they had to be light reading or only a few pages long to ensure that I would finish them in the time needed.
Yes, I know this is not the best way to choose a book, but this time I am looking to get back into the habit of reading, which means recovering my reading and comprehension level that I had a year ago.
To do this I went through the list of all the books again, both those available and those that I have to acquire, after selecting the ones with the least number of pages and that gave me the impression of not being so deep, I kept 4 of them.
The first one I read was this:

After knowing how the first books should be, I relaxed and arranged everything to acquire the right one, yes, it turned out that "Dialogues between Leonardo Da Vinci and Steve Jobs" was not in my library.
Once everything was ready I continued with my activities that day and it wasn't until about 12 hours after all those events, that I started reading it. It was quite a surprise, although the conversations for obvious reasons are not true, because of the research work done by the author, I believe that if that meeting had really taken place, it would not be much different.
Without knowing it, I came across concepts about innovation, life, beauty and art, which complemented my own beliefs on the subject. I also found very interesting facts such as all the areas in which Leonardo ventured, and the description of Steve as a "tweaker" or someone who took something that already existed and transformed it in such a way that it became a disruptive innovation.
It is definitely a light book, but with information that should not be taken lightly as what it says in this excerpt:
NOTE: "The "State of the Art" is the most advanced or avant-garde point that man has reached in any of the artistic or scientific fields. In the state of the art are located all the people who are at the limit of human knowledge within each area of specialization."

Con cuál iniciar si tanto en la lista de libros físicos como los digitales había colocado títulos interesantes y libros recomendados por personas de confianza.
Quedaban pocas horas para que iniciara el nuevo año y con ello el horario en que había dispuesto para leer todos los días. Cómo la elección se me estaba complicando porque deseaba leer todos a la vez, decidí relajarme viendo "Harry Potter y la piedra filosofal"
En la escena dentro de biblioteca, cuando Ron y Harry están investigando sobre Nicolas Flamel, llega Hermione y deja caer un enorme libro sobre la mesa a la vez que dice que lo había sacado porque quería tener algo de lectura ligera.
Haber dejado la selección del libro hasta el último momento, le dio tiempo a mi cerebro de hilar los diferentes criterios de selección.
Sabía que había libros más interesantes, pero pensé que este podría ser algo ligero con lo que retomar el hábito de lectura.
Así que aproveche a elegir no sólo el de la primera semana, sino los de todo el mes, basándome en que debían ser de lectura ligera o de pocas páginas para garantizar que los terminaría en el tiempo necesario.
Sí, sé que no es la mejor forma de elegir un libro, pero en esta ocasión lo que busco es recobrar el hábito de la lectura, lo que implica recobrar mi nivel de lectura y comprensión que tuve hace un año.
Para ello revisé nuevamente la lista de todos los libros, tanto los disponibles como los que tengo que adquirir, después de seleccionar los de menor número de páginas y que me daban la impresión de no ser tan profundos, me quedé con 4 de ellos.
El primero que leí fue:

Después de saber cómo debían ser los primeros libros, me relajé y dispuse todo para adquirir el indicado, sí, resultó que el de "Diálogos entre Leonardo Da Vinci y Steve Jobs" no se encontraba en mi biblioteca.
Una vez que todo estuvo listo continué con mis actividades de ese día y no fue hasta unas 12 horas después de todos esos eventos, que empecé a leerlo. Fue toda una sorpresa, si bien las conversaciones por obvias razones no son verídicas, por el trabajo de investigación que realizó el autor, creo que si en verdad se hubiera dado ese encuentro, no sería muy diferente.
Sin saberlo me encontré con conceptos sobre la innovación, la vida, la belleza y el arte, que complementaron mis propias creencias al respecto. También me encontré datos muy interesantes como todas las áreas en las que incursionó Leonardo, la descripción de Steve como un "ajustador" o sea alguien que tomaba algo que ya existía y lo transformaba de tal manera que se volvía una innovación disruptiva.
Definitivamente es un libro ligero, pero con información que no debe tomarse a la ligera cómo lo que dice en este fragmento:
NOTA: "El "Estado del Arte" es el punto más avanzado o vanguardista en el que el hombre ha llegado en cualquiera de los campos artísticos o científicos. En el estado del arte se ubican todas las personas que están en el límite del conocimiento humano dentro de cada área de especialización"

No sé cómo no había visto este post. Guau, lo que me hubiera gustado estar presente en una conversación entre esos dos genios. La figura de Leonardo da Vinci me ha fascinado desde siempre y he leído bastante sobre él, tanto ficción como ensayo. Es sorprendente lo adelantado que estuvo a su tiempo.
De Steve Jobs leí la biografía de Walter Isaacson hace años. Quizás sea excesivo compararle con el florentino, pero tampoco hay dudas de que era capaz de ver más allá del común de los mortales.
En ambos casos eran difíciles de tratar para los que estaban a su alrededor, quizás terminasen la conversación tirándose de los pelos o directamente a puñetazos, jajaja. ¡Quién sabe! A lo mejor ahora mismo están los dos intercambiando sus opiniones...
