This book written by Buchi Emecheta is all about a girl called Adah (in English first daughter of the family) this girl was determined to go to school to become a better person in further but her parents did not send her to school because she came as a disappointed to her family.
Someone may ask how a child is a disappointed to the family?
To them they were aspecting a boy child and Adah came so they were disappointed.
Adah did give up on her dreams of going to school and travelling out of the country this has been her dreams, talking her brother to school and staying at home made her took a bold step by stinking to Methodist school with her mother knowing and that step taught her parents a very big lesson that made them not to have choose other than sending her to school.
Some years later her father died and her mother remarry and she was sent to her uncle's place and the uncle refuse to pay her school fees for the second time to took another bold step and she was given scholarship and she don't have to ask for e fa ce from anybody till she finished her secondary school.
After all the challenge she faced she married at early stage and work with the white man and was paid a huge some of more that helped her preparing for her traveling and the changes did not end there her husband people say that the husband should go .
She sent her husband there and still didn't lose faith and after everything she traveled at of the country with her two kids.
There is a word she usually said to herself that "be as cunning as a serpent and as harmless as a dove" always gives her hope.
In summer this particular give called Adah was a very determined person and she finally got to that country she has be dreaming of meeting the white people wining and dinning with them making her family proud this is what determination results to.
Thank you all for your time reading this to the end I appreciate you all.
