Even though I was in a massive reading slump since July last year, I was still buying books when a good sale or deal comes around. I am slowly getting back to reading which is very exciting and giving my books a proper place to exist gave me a push to enjoy the books I already have. My favorite librarian moved to work in the city so my local library has a new librarian now and, to be honest, we just didn't connect so I am no longer visiting library as much as I used to which is another reason to work on my own TBR as the majority of the books I own I haven't even read yet! Anyways, my boyfriend is very handy and he loves working on projects so he got some inspiration online, drew and measured everything, got the materials and made my first bookshelf that now lives at his place so I moved most of my book collection there. Photo below shows all the books I left at my place just have some options for my next read.
Last year there was a popular thing going on within the book community in my country and it's called "12 months to read 12 books recommended by 12 friends" and I got some amazing recommendations! The only thing is I only finished one book from that list in 2024. so instead of asking for recommendation again this year I just decided to continue with the same list and try to finish all of them in 2025.
12 months to read 12 books recommended by 12 friends
- Oscar Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Gray
- Djordje Lebovic - Semper Idem
- Fredrik Backman - My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry
- Ken Kesey - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
- Charlotte Bronte - Jane Eyre
- Judith Ryan Hendricks - Isabel's Daughter
- Madeline Miller - Circe
- Harper Lee - To Kill a Mockingbird
- Marjan Kamali - The Stationary Shop (the only one I finished)
- Carlos Ruiz Zafon - The Shadow of the Wind
- Jojo Moyes - The Last Letter From Your Lover
- Lucinda Riley - The Seven Sisters
When it comes to my overall reading goal for this year, I decided to go with 25 and so far I have only finished three but, as I said, I am slowly getting back to reading and most importantly, getting back to enjoying reading as I used to. I won't put too much pressure on myself but it would be nice to finish the challenge above which still leaves me with a lot of room to read other books I am interested in.
I love these kind of bookshelves!!!💓💓
Thank you! They are great for narrow spaces and they can fit a decent amount of books. :)
Espero puedas terminar tus lecturas amiga, el retrato de Doroan Grey es uno de los favoritos
Muchas gracias! 😊❤️
The bookshelf looks really nice. I’d steal the design for when I want to get mine done. Hehehe
Thank you! Feel free to steal the design, it's really amazing and it serves me well so far! 😊
That's a nice bookshelf. Having a gold to finish 12 books sounds perfect.
I have only read one, the first one from your list. Good to see your goal/list. It gave me a thought of making one for myself.
Thank you so much!
It's a nice little challenge and maybe you would get recommendations for books you might not read otherwise, it's a nice way to explore books recommended by different people. 😊
