What is your favorite book and why?
When I was a child, I started reading and developed an unbridled thirst for books. In my childhood, the high movement of the internet or the like did not exist. There were only physical books with delicious smells that came off every turn of the page.
I started working when I was 13 years old, and my little salary disappeared paying for the books that were promoted with the newspaper "El Nacional". There, they released weekly a series of books called "The Classics", where there were books like those by Edgar Allan Poe, Kafka, and Dante Alighieri. It is my favorite book, because the little by little that it develops in its exact measurements of lines, is the correct one to catch the reader and encapsulate it in the context of the writing. It happened to me that reading, I was not aware of the blinking, or of the time, or similar; I just wanted to enjoy the outcome and navigate the sentences and actions of the characters.
One of my favorite stories in the selection was "Meningitis and its shadow", a love based on an unusual phenomenon that takes force in the feverish nights of a young woman. Honestly, it is a nice love story to always remember, and that despite the ineffectiveness of conscience, a feeling was forming between two beings that life had crossed in a strange way.

Leer la astucia literaria que desvanece en los párrafos del escritor uruguayo; fue algo hipnotizante para mí. Me encantó el desarrollo de las muertes repentinas. Como también, el contexto de un amor inocente y solo en altas fiebres.
Este libro no es una historia solamente, son varios cuentos cortos que la conforman y a la vez, exponen diferentes percepciones de vida donde se resalta la muerte.
La muerte está muy marcada en la vida del escritor y es por eso que en sus cuentos la desarrolla de una manera asombrosa. Los desenlaces no imaginados, son un don de Quiroga.
Además de la muerte, se desarrolla el sentido humano hipotético de los animales. Así como también, en algunas historias humanas, los personajes se desprenden de su humanidad y viajan a la inconsciencia más primitiva e indolente.
Ahora.
Es mi libro favorito, porque el poquito a poquito que desarrolla en sus medidas justas de líneas, es el correcto para atrapar al lector y encapsularlo en el contexto del escrito. Me sucedió que leyendo, no era consciente del parpadeo, ni del tiempo, ni similar; solo quería disfrutar el desenlace y navegar en las oraciones y acciones de los personajes.
Uno de mis cuentos favoritos en la selección, fue "La meningitis y su sombra", un amor en base a una un fenomeno inusual que toma fuerza en las noches febriles de una joven. Sinceramente, es una simpática historia de amor para recordar siempre, y que a pesar de la inoperancia de la conciencia, se iba formando un sentimiento entre dos seres que la vida había cruzado de manera extraña.
Gracias a El Nacional tengo varios clásicos en mi colección. Conocia al kioskero y me guardaba el periódico con el libro jajaja: pero se me han ido deteriorando con el pasar de los años y luego de varias mudanzas.
Yo también, pero no me guardaban los libros y debía tomar la bici temprano e ir al centro del pueblo a comprarlos. Jaja. Adrenalina pura...
No había nada más lindo que sus bordes dorados en las páginas...

Ese autor atrae mi atención por su vida, lo que describes suena muy bien, anotado. :)
Si. A mí también. Tuvo una vida donde siempre se marcó la muerte, es por ello que en sus relatos o cuentos cortos, siempre la muerte ronda sus letras en diferentes escenas y contextos. Es interesante como los humanos disolvemos el dolor en creatividad.

El dolor es uno de los motivos por el que existe el arte.
Eso es lo que me atrae de ese autor, que sus textos rondan la muerte, aunque es trágico es diferente a otras lecturas que se encuentran por allí. Jeje, hasta luego 🌹
