Talking about this book in particular, brings me a lot of memories, mainly on two occasions in my life, the first in my time as a student in high school, when we were assigned as homework to read The Iliad and the Odyssey and it is at that time where my interest in mythology gained more strength, and the second occasion in my life was when I found the book I will talk about when I was in college, the book was not new and was used and in an acceptable state so to speak, but I could read it in my hands and that excited me a lot. So it will be a pleasure for me to give you both my opinion and a review of this great Greek epic poem as old and as recognized as The Odyssey.
Hablar de este libro en particular, me trae muchos recuerdos, principalmente en dos momentos en mi vida, la primera, en mi etapa siendo estudiante cursando el liceo, cuando nos asignaron como tarea leer La Ilíada así como La Odisea y es en ese momento donde mi interés por la mitología cobro más fuerza, y la segunda ocasión en mi vida fue cuando me encontré el libro del que les hablare cuando estaba en la universidad, el libro no era nuevo y estaba usado y en un estado aceptable por así decirlo, pero lo podía leer en mis manos y eso me emociono mucho. Así que será un placer para mi darles tanto mi opinión como una reseña a este gran poema épico griego tan antiguo y tan reconocido como La Odisea.
Summary / Resumen
Our story takes place after the events of the Trojan War, Odysseus or Ulysses in its Latin version is king of Itaca and considered a Greek hero, after his impact and recognition in the war he strongly tries to return to his land since he has been away from it for more than 20 years, 10 years fighting in Troy but unfortunately for various circumstances beyond his control, this is added 10 more years once the war ended when he tries to return to his homeland, this adds up to a total of 20 years, although this adventure will only emphasize the 10 that has cost him earnestly return to his kingdom.
Nuestra historia transcurre después de los acontecimientos de la guerra de Troya, Odiseo o Ulises en su versión latina, es rey de Ítaca y considerado un héroe griego, después de su impacto y reconocimiento en dicha guerra intenta encarecidamente regresar a su tierra ya que este ha estado alejado de la misma durante más de 20 años, 10 años luchando en Troya pero lamentablemente por diversas circunstancias ajenas a su control, a este se le suman 10 años mas una vez culminada la guerra cuando intenta regresar a su patria, esto suma un total de 20 años, aunque esta aventura solo hará énfasis en los 10 que le ha costado encarecidamente regresar a su reino.

Odysseus is currently being held prisoner on the island of Calypso by this nymph since he had been stranded due to certain problems that were previously related to Poseidon. Athena, daughter of Zeus and friend of Odysseus, observes the situation of this eh intercedes for him before Zeus, so that he can free him from that island and talk to Poseidon to stop his behavior and attacks against him, after this she goes to Itaca and takes the form of a friend of Odysseus to communicate to Telemachus (son of Odysseus) that his father is still alive and to enlist and gather a team of people to sail to Pylos and Sparta, to look for more information about his father, although from here is where the adventure of our Greek hero, Telemachus, Penelope and other gods and fantastic beings is just beginning and it will be much more difficult for our hero to return.
Odiseo actualmente se encuentra como prisionero en la isla de Calipso por esta ninfa, ya que este había quedado varado debido a ciertos problemas que estaban relacionados con Poseidón anteriormente. Atenea, hija de Zeus y amiga de Odiseo, observa la situación de este e intercede por el ante Zeus, para que lo pueda liberar de esa isla y hable con Poseidón de que cese su conducta y ataques contra él, después de esto esta, se dirige a Ítaca y toma la forma de un amigo de Odiseo para comunicarle a Telémaco (hijo de Odiseo) de que su padre sigue con vida y que se aliste y reúna un equipo de personas para que naveguen hacia Pilos y Esparta, para buscar mas información de su padre, aunque a partir de aquí es donde la aventura de nuestro héroe griego, Telémaco, Penélope y otros dioses y seres fantásticos es donde apenas comienza y será mucho mas difícil para nuestro héroe regresar.
Personal opinion / Opinión personal
Well now we are in my favorite segment, well in relation to this work there are several things that I would like to emphasize, first and foremost is that Odysseus as a character is a very intelligent and cunning individual in fact that is one of his greatest strengths as well as his combat experience and his stamina or physical strength, the way in which he manages to solve many of his problems is quite unique and sometimes somewhat peculiar, we are talking about the mastermind who gave the idea to cross Troy creating the mythical wooden horse and placed many soldiers inside it to enter.
Y bien, ahora estamos en mi segmento favorito, bueno con relación a esta obra hay varias cosas a las que me gustaría hacerle énfasis, primero y principal es que Odiseo como personaje es un individuo muy inteligente y astuto, de hecho esa es una de sus mayores fortalezas así como su experiencia en el combate y su resistencia o fuerza física, la forma en la cual se ingenia para solventar muchos de sus problemas es bastante única y a veces algo peculiares, estamos hablando del autor intelectual que dio la idea para poder atravesar Troya creando el mítico caballo de madera y colocado muchos soldados dentro del mismo para ingresar.
Another factor that I liked a lot is the participation and representation of the gods in the crossing, for example Athena is represented as the goddess of diplomacy, war and intelligence, the arbitrary, political and diplomatic means she has to reach Zeus and several humans is very interesting in order not to spill blood unnecessarily, as well as the participation and interaction of other gods in the poem as Poseidon, Hermes, Apollo, etc.
Otro factor que me gusto mucho es la participación y la representación de los dioses en la travesía, por ejemplo Atenea se ve representada como la diosa de la diplomacia, la guerra y la inteligencia los medios arbitrarios, politicos y diplomaticos que tiene para llegar a Zeus y varios humanos es muy interesante con el fin de no derramar sangre de forma innecesaria, así como la participación eh interacción de otros dioses en el poema como Poseidón, Hermes, Apolo, etc.
Before the whims of the gods and circumstances of which Odysseus is subjected, as monsters and beasts is incredible the dowry of his mental fortitude and temperance. Ante los caprichos de los dioses y circunstancias de las cuales Odiseo se ve sometido, como monstruos y bestias, es increíble el dote de su fortaleza mental y templanza. Es una obra magnífica que recomiendo encarecidamente, si puedes disfrutar o lidiar con los modismos de la época que se presentan en la obra y la forma tan técnica de la cual hablan o se expresan siendo este un poema, y con esto termina mi resumen y opinión de este fantástico poema griego, espero haya sido de su agrado la lectura, hasta la próxima.

I remember trying to read it first as a student, I couldn't finish it but then I bought a comic book about the Trojan War and this story and since then every now and then I read it again. Beautiful story, hard to believe it is as old as it is and probably one of my great-grandparents read it.
