Hi,
today I would like to share another book I am reading. A book written by Shannon Lee, the daughter of the famous martial artist Bruce Lee.
Besides a genius in martial arts and a celebrated actor. Bruce Lee was also a great admirer of the philosophy of life. He combined his martial arts and philosophy to create the Jeet Kune Do concept. Which he never really could bring to the majority of humankind.
Shannon writes in her own words about her father, who she lost at a very young age. It's from her perspective, letters and memories she has, what brings us a unique insights of the life he had.
Bruce Lee started at a young age practicing Wing Chun in his home country and learned about TAO at the same time. Be present, respond to your opponent not with force but with awareness.
No matter how hard you train or how you visualize the perfect match. One mistake or an unaware move can bring you out of balance. Therefore it's important to stay present and act in flow.
Just like our daily lives, no matter how hard we try to do our best. If we are off balance, it only gets harder to deal what lives brings us.
We have to look within, to face our challenge to become present and to remember our true selves.
This book shows me another side of Bruce Lee, who I only knew from the movies. My dad was a big fan of his arts. My full first name "Timothy Lee" is proof of that ;-)
If you are into philosophy and want to have a different perspective. This is a book I would recommend. Especially as it is based on the teaching of martial arts and a great man from the past century.
