I want to share a story that’s equal parts painful and enlightening. It’s about how I lost $3500 on TrumpCoin, a decision that still makes me shake my head when I think about it.
As an emigrant from a developing country to the developed world at 18, I understood the importance of money better than most. I knew firsthand what it meant to live without it. With the help of YouTube educators like Better Ideas, Graham Stephan, and Matt D’Avella, I learned the basics of personal finance: saving, budgeting, and investing. I even bought my first Bitcoin at 16, rode through two bull runs, and lost money both times. But each loss taught me something valuable.
Now, at 24, six and a half years into my emigration journey, I’ve managed to grow my crypto portfolio to $5000 this cycle. I was disciplined—80% in Bitcoin, the rest in legacy altcoins, no leverage, and only ever traded 20% of my holdings. For the most part, I sat tight and let the market do its thing.
And then… I saw what I thought was an opportunity. I thought, “The sitting president of the strongest country in the world can’t possibly screw this up. He’s a businessman, he ran on economic policies, and he claims to be pro-people, he is gonna be sued if it a rag pull. There must be potential which is only first adopters like i'm would be able to see.”
There wasn’t.
I lost 3500$ over 1,5 month and have not sold yet. hoping to be able to sell for around 17$ , currently price is at 8.9$. It was almost 100$ per coin at peak. Because of regret and general feeling of being fooled wich we are as a species dislike very much i haven't sold sooner but now i'm 100% sure it was a rugpull i walked in voluntarily. Rugpull by Donald J. Trump.
I was so focused on the potential upside that I ignored the risks. In crypto, skepticism is just as important as optimism.
Moving Forward I’ll be okay. $3500 is a lot of money, that would not work for me in that critical for compounding interest age, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m grateful for the financial foundation I’ve built, and I’m determined to make up for that loss.
As for TrumpCoin? I wish it weren’t legal. But more than that, I wish I’d been smarter.
To anyone reading this: learn from my mistake. Stick to the basics, stay skeptical, and never let hype override your better judgment.

This isn't a good start. We never know what will happen with Trump Coin, but I don't presume anything over ambitious, perhaps there will be pull up on this, but generally it's a same cycle, always the same...... Last cycle was Doge at 0.70 cents just before SNL and Elona appearance, this time obviously all sort of Trump coins. Crypto is tough, I would suggest learn and forget.
