Iran has halted the executions of three men, Amirhossein Moradi, Mohammad Rajab,i and Saeed Tamjidi, who were sentenced to death over anti-government protests last year, according to one of their lawyers. The lawyer told reporters that a request for a retrial had been accepted by the supreme court. The three men were sentenced to death earlier this year, but it was the supreme court's decision to uphold the sentence earlier this week that unleashed public anger, with the Persian hashtag #do_not_execute used seven million times online. The three men were among thousands of protesters across Iran who took to the streets in November against the government's decision to raise the price of petrol. More than 300 protesters were killed and thousands others were arbitrarily detained during the authorities' crackdown against November's unrest.

I am not very optimistic about this, but I guess the fact that they halted the execution may be a possitive thing in the long run. If indeed it was due to public outrage, which I doubt, considering that Iran had done horrible things to other people (especially women) regardless of public outcry, it may encourage many more to intensify their online campaigns.
I would not be surprise if after a retrial the court ratifies the penalty.
I hope to be wrong
It is a horrible thing that at this point in history there are countries so lost in babaric practices and so many others flirting with them.
Well for a country like Iran I think it might be a good think, the voices of majority might matter afterall

If in venezuela they could implement death penalty for things like protesting, there would be hundreds of execusions every day
