I practiced what I learnt from @nikky01 through this community: vegetable sauce with coconut milk.

in Plant Power (Vegan)18 hours ago

‎I could remember vividly the time I wrote my hive introductory post, I mentioned that am here to impact knowledge into my fellow hiveans and to take in knowledge from them as well. That is why, I always like to learn new things from fellow hiveans. Now, let me tell you one thing I learnt from this community which I practiced today.

‎Few months ago, I saw a post that caught my fancy. The post was made in this community by @nikky01 about how to prepare vegetable sauce with coconut milk. After going through the post, I told her that am going to practice the recipe.
‎ I also asked for her permission in other to reblog the post which she gave me the authority to do so.

‎Therefore, today, I practiced the recipe and I can testify to its goodness. Before moving on with how good the recipe is, let me show you guys the cooking procedures and steps I took in preparing it as shown to me by my teacher @nikky01

Ingredients

  • ‎One Full coconut
  • ‎Onions
  • ‎Fresh Pepper(to taste)
  • ‎Salt(to taste)
  • ‎8 pieces of carrot
  • ‎20 pieces of green beans
  • ‎Water
  • ‎Activa groundnut oil
  • 4 cups of rice

Cooking Procedures

First, l sliced the carrots, green beans and onions. I also Extracted the coconut flesh and also set them aside.

‎My teacher @nikky01 made use of blender to extract the coconut water, since myself as student does not have blender, I made use of manual process which is to pound the coconut with mortar and pestle. After pounding, I extracted the milk using cheese-like cloth. After extracting the water, I set it aside.

‎As for onions, I am the type that doesn't like seeing pieces of it inside my food. Although my teacher sliced hers, myself, I pounded mine along with pepper.

‎Done with all the above preparations, I set my pot on fire, poured the power oil groundnut oil inside and allow it to heat up for a while. Then, I added salt, grounded onions, green beans and carrot. I stirred them for a while.

‎The next thing I did was to put the already made coconut milk and stir.

‎Then I added pepper, but honestly, I wanted to add the pepper along with onions, green beans and carrot same time because it is fresh pepper. But I was afraid if it will spoil the recipe. Thats why I followed my Madam's tutorial step-by-step to avoid mistake.

‎Lo and behold, my coconut sauce is ready.

‎The taste and aroma filled my house and I felt on top the world having learnt something new.

‎Since the sauce is done, let's head over to rice.

‎I added about 3 cups of water inside my pot, set it on fire and then added the 4 cups of rice.

‎I allowed it to boil for like 3 minutes. I brought it down. And ‎I washed it with my hand sieve.

‎Then, I set it back on fire, add a little salt to taste. As soon as the water dried, I checked it and found out that the rice is done.

‎Do you know what next? Hahahaha 😂 😂 I am already salivating. So I scooped out rice from pot, garnished it with the sauce. Wow, the look is just attractive to the eyes.

‎All thanks to @nikky01 for unveiling this recipe for us through this community. But this wouldn't have become a reality if to say this community is not in existence. Thanks to the founder of vegan community for creating this community.

Things I must practice next time

According to her, if I don't want to make use of groundnut oil, I can first add the coconut milk followed by other ingredients. I will try it.

‎The second thing that am going to try is to prepare this recipe with our local premature beans instead of green beans. I may start with this second one. Lets see how it goes.

My observation

@nikky01, there is something i observed while practicing this recipe. I noticed that the coconut milk easily dries up. Is it normal or it is my fault?

As for the taste, it is superb. I am grateful 🙏 🙏 🙏

‎I love you, and i love you all.
