last iftar with a traditional cake: Awok Awok Cake

Good evening HIVE friends in this community, today is my last fast in the month of Ramadan this year, many menus have been prepared and holiday knick-knacks have decorated the corners of our house, even so there is still a light food menu. in the stomach and not too heavy so as to increase cholesterol or blood sugar levels.

And for my last iftar, I will make a very traditional iftar menu but it's very easy to make and doesn't take time, because from the morning I spent time in the kitchen preparing tomorrow's Eid dishes but I forgot to prepare an appetizer, so I racked my brain to make this appetizer. the name of the food that I will make is 'Awok-Awok'. Names that don't sell but become Indonesian traditional food that deserve to be taken into account.

To be able to make 'Awok-Awok', there are only a few ingredients that must be prepared, namely:

1. 1 coconut that has been grated and only the white part is taken (so that the color of the Awok-Awok cake is not too dirty)..ha..ha

2. 250 grams of Glutinous rice flour

3. ¼ tablespoon of salt

4. 4 thinly sliced palm sugar.

Apart from these ingredients, you also have to prepare a steamer that you have preheated, so that after the 'Awok-Awok' cake mixture is ready, the steamer is also hot and what is clear is that it doesn't take up to 5 minutes to make this cake dough. and so that you are not curious, I will share the process of making this 'Awok-Awok' cake.

Making process

1. Coconut that has been grated and only take the white flesh then place it in a container then mix the glutinous rice flour and salt. Stir using a spoon or spoon and don't use your hands, so that the dough isn't dense later.

2. After all the dough is thoroughly mixed, put the mixture into a mold that suits your taste without having to compact the Awok-Awok cake mix. let the cake batter have a non-solid texture so that after it cools down the cake batter is not dense and too hard.

3. After the cake mixture is in the mold, then steam the mixture for about 10 minutes, after that add the sliced palm sugar on top of this Awok-awok cake, with the aim that the palm sugar that we sliced earlier melts a little on the cake to decorate the cake then as an addition to the sweet taste of this Awok-Awok cake.

4. After finishing adding the palm sugar, close the steamer again and steam again until fully cooked for about 15 minutes. The cooked cake is marked with a dough that has shrunk a little, or you can pierce it with a fork, if it's not sticky, it means I'm Awok cake - The boys are ready to be picked up, serve according to your taste and you can enjoy it.

Have you ever made this cake in your country? What's the name of the cake? Please share with me and greetings from us Tomi and Maya from the city of Binjai, Indonesia. Keep following my posts and good luck to all HIVE friends in this community. healthy greetings always for all of us
