Tempeh Woku

Woku is one of the foods from Indonesia, to be exact, from the Manado area, North Sulawesi. This one dish is very unique there, because it has a unique taste. If usually woku is prepared with pieces of chicken, this time I will give another surprise for you vegan lovers, namely preparing it with vegan ingredients, namely tempeh.

Well, here I want vegetarians all over the world to be able to also enjoy woku seasoning without the use of animal products, of course. Doesn't it sound very interesting, the woku seasoning is distinctive and has a quite different fragrance from my typical regional dishes which usually have a strong aroma of spices. The fragrance of the woku seasoning has a different aroma and taste, emanating from the wet spices and basil or spring onions so that it has a very delicious taste. Here I don't use basil leaves because I can't find them, but the taste is still no less delicious than usual. For those of you who like dishes that are not too spicy, this is the right choice in my opinion.
Materials Used

1 board of tempeh
1 stalk of lemongrass
1 stalk of green onion
3 bay leaves
Ground Spices
5 red chilies
4 bird's eye chilies

Step 1
Cut the tempe according to taste, marinate with a little salt, then let stand a few minutes until the salt is absorbed, then fry the tempe in hot oil until golden brown.

Step 2
Then blend the spices as finely as possible, stir-fry the spices with a little oil.

Step 3
Then add the lime leaves, bay leaves and lemongrass which have been pounded with a pestle.

Step 5
After the spices are half dry, add the fried tempeh.

Step 6
Then season with a teaspoon of salt, and also a teaspoon of sugar (optional)

Step 7
Then cook again until the spices are absorbed, and lastly add the chopped green onions, stir briefly and cook again briefly.
