Good morning to all my Hive friends! 🌞 In Sri Lanka, winged beans, also known as Dambala, are a wonderfully nutritious and flavorful vegetable. They can be prepared in many different ways, but when cooked with a touch of coconut oil, their rich, hearty taste and tender texture truly shine. This simple dish is perfect for everyday meals, combining the natural goodness of winged beans with traditional Sri Lankan spices. It’s not only delicious but also very healthy — a favorite among those who appreciate wholesome, home-cooked meals.

Ingredients...
Winged Bean 200g.
1 Onion.
Curry leaves.
Two green chilli pods.
About 2 cloves of garlic.
2 Teaspoon of crushed chili powder.
2/1 Teaspoon of curry powder.
Salt as needed.
1/2 Teaspoon of turmeric powder.
2 Tablespoon of coconut oil.

The order of preparation.
Step 1:-
First, I washed and cleaned the winged beans (dambala) thoroughly and sliced them thinly. I also finely chopped the onions, green chilies, and garlic to prepare for cooking.

Step 2:-
Next, I added chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, and curry powder to the finely sliced winged beans (dambala) and mixed them well until evenly coated. After that, I set the mixture aside to let the spices absorb nicely.

Step 3:-
Then, I placed a pan on the stove and added about two tablespoons of coconut oil, allowing it to heat until it turned slightly reddish. Once the oil was ready, I added the chopped garlic, onions, cinnamon, green chilies, and curry leaves. I let them fry gently until they released their aroma and turned light golden, filling the kitchen with a warm, spicy fragrance.

Step 4:-
Now I added the spiced winged beans and mixed them well. Then I cooked for about 3 minutes and removed the dish from the stove.

A curry made with winged beans and a little oil is a true comfort food — warm, nutritious, and full of local flavor. It pairs beautifully with rice or even roti, adding color and taste to your meal. Whether for lunch or dinner, this easy-to-make dish is a reminder of how simple ingredients can create delicious and healthy Sri Lankan cuisine.
