What was in the bar cabinet? Collecting the collection- Mum's authentic vintage booze from the 1970's to the 1980's

in Hive Collectorslast month (edited)

Ok so hello there everyone around that world today that knows that
One man's trash is another man's treasure. and it really is.

For beauty, therefore value, is in the eye of the beholder, so we cannot judge what we think is important to another person based on our own opinions, and that is why it is so important to share our collections as there something in there that may be of value to another person, such as these vintage beverages that Mum stashed in the Bar cabinet for many years.

Although mum was a collector of many things, most of the things she did end up 'collecting' were incidental, indirect collections, such as the booze below and that's because Mum didn't drink- EVER and dad only drank beer up until his heart incident back in 1994 which made him give up beer too, so therefore, when people came over for the typical Aussie BBQ's back in the day, people bought booze as presents and so as they never got drank, they sat in the bar cabinet (and to have a bar cabinet was a HUGE 1970's/80's trend Australia wide) and sat there collecting dust until just a couple of months ago when I dove in there and cleaned it out.

The most of the booze that got drunk from the bar cabinet back hen was us teenagers sneaking it out back in the 80's....😆🤣😂😅

So please feel free to dive and and feast your eyes on these vintage beauties, take a trip down memory lane, but don't drink too much or you might be taking a trip- back in time, but more than likely to the hospital! 🤣

ChocolateScorpi is so incredibly grateful to the the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Eastern Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of this beautiful land that I call home and I thank you for caring for it for so long.

I pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging and offer our hand to all first nations hands in order to help heal all of our relationships to the earth on this truly magical and extraordinary island nation that we now all call home.

Thats quite the collection. Some really lovely drinks there like baileys and the ports 😋
Have a wonderful new week 🤗🥰🌸☀️🐝

Yes I wouldn't want to drink any of them now though!

Maybe the ports...🤔...🤣

But there could be something in that collection that someone wants- whether it be for the label, the bottle or the whole package, so now I have to research how to sell alcohol online without it being actually drinkable alcohol and without being liable for killing someone if they do drink it...

I hope you have a wonderful week out in the fresh air too!

Nah, I wouldn’t drink them now either.

It is worth looking into. I am sure there are collectors for some of them.
A good research will help 😉

I am out and about in the garden, doing all kind of chores 🌸☀️🐝
Enjoy your week too and the air outside.

Dear @chocolatescorpi, you just got hugged.
I sent 1.0 HUG on behalf of @littlebee4.
(2/3)

A large collection of old liquor🙂
There are probably drink auctions in Australia where you can bid them, because I don't think you need to drink them all 😁

Great idea!
Especially since I get hangovers these days and I certainly would with these ones...😆🤣😂😅
(that's if they don't kill me first...but as they say, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger..) 🤣

Laku noć!
Nadam se da danas imate sjajan dan do sada. 😊

🙂
For now, the day is great.

I wish you a good night.

Baileys... 🤤 no, no, no mipiano - it is just an item for this huge collection haha, I guess the hospital would be indeed the destination after drinking that and all the other bottles presented here :D

Haaa sooo Baileys eh...😋...Good to know! 😜

I like Baileys as a topper on cocktail shooters, but to drink on ice straight, I much prefer Cadburys Chocolate Liqueur or Frangelico- or both at the same time...😆🤣😂😅

Oh I miss it sooo much....

Yes, I'll pass on the visit to the hospital, but I am curious about a few of the unopened reds and the Ports and the Champagnes..Though I'd prefer to keep them unopened just incase there is someone out there who has been looking for that long lost bottle of...from... to display...Which reminds me, I need to do some research on how to sell it...

Beautiful collection of drinks. You are surprising us with amazing collections. My regards and excellent week to you. And new surprises for sure. 😀

Great so glad that you liked it and hope your eyes aren't too hungover from drinking it all in! 🤣

It's funny how you start off as a hoarder then end up as a 'collector'! 🤣

Well that was Mum and if wasn't for her, then I wouldn't have all this history to remember and to share with you guys!

Wow! That's a LOT of booze! 😃

As you mentioned Matrix in other comments, this is how I imagine that bar cabinet...

Just change guns for bottles... 😂

😲 wow, you can open a bar 🤣🤣🤣 , you have a lot of alcohol here 🤭🤭. I personally don't drink alcohol, I can have a mojito or some other cocktail but just one but I love to use alcohol in my dessert recipes 🤫🤭🤭😋😋
hahaha, specially rum, frAngelico, Baileys, Cognac and some others with fruity flavors 🍋🍊🥥, that Creme of cacao must be delicious 🍫😋😋😋😋
If you were here in Venezuela you'll sell them in just few days 🤭🤭🤭🤑🤑

Haaa yes, but my bartending days and drinking days are over.

Well if you like alcohol in your dessert and cocktails too, I have some great dessert cocktail recipes for you! 😃

Speaking ofwhich, did you see my post here about a few cocktails that my friend Cathy and I splurged out on last week....https://peakd.com/hive-120586/@chocolatescorpi/cocktail-hour-or-4-with-cathy-hive-120586 there's a couple of recipes in there that you might like....😆🤣😂😅

Wow, I just read your post, I didn't know you are/were a professional bartender and that you had worked in so many places and countries, that's great, you must have many histories to talk about hahaha, an interesting life for sure 👍🏻.
I have always heard that Australia is one of the most expensive countries in the world so the prices of the drinks don't impressed me hahaha, maybe they are even more expensive in hotels and high class bars and restaurants 😬🥴. That's crazy 😬 but maybe it helps to don't have so much drunk people 😂😂😂🤷🏻‍♀️.

Hahaha, well, I was talking about desserts, not cocktails recipes hahaha, but thank you. I have only drink two kind of cocktails, mojito and Ponche crema (a traditional christmass liquor here in Venezuela) with coffee cream liquor, it's delicious.

Happy weekend 🍨😺

Oh yes WAS being the operative word, but I used to love it and I do miss it, but it's just too hard now with so many young idiots who don't know how to handle their booze and really tough laws that always blame the bartender, so it's just not worth it to work in bars anymore and I used to have a lot of cocktail parties at home, but then I would be so busy making drinks for everyone, I would never get a chance to relax and enjoy myself and then having to clean up the mess afterwards, PLUS the cost of the bottles, it just became a chore and now I actually very rarely drink- because I am a social drinker and these days I don't socialise much because I'd much rather be creative, productive and progressive with my life...

I also don't have the patience to serve people these days either I don't think..though I still work in customer service, but in the medical sector.

Oh yes the old Mojito, it's sooo popular here these days...The Poncha Crema sounds interesting. I will have to try it when I come over there one day! 😃

I never used to own things, not that I don't drink (and waste the money) I do own things you know, so there is a HUGE benefit to not drinking (especially the lack of hangovers.🤣..)

😂😂😂😂 that's true, too much idiots on these days 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️. I think you're doing well focusing on your creativity and your life 😉,

Yeah hahaha, the Ponche crema is delicious, I hope you have the chance to try it someday 🍹😃

Well, at least you have a lot of alcohol bottles, if you need money you can just sold a few of them 🤑🤭🤭🤭

Yes I do agree with you actually. So much good and positive stuff to do now, instead of wasting time and money on nights out.

And yes, as uch as I need to get rid of those bottles of booze, I have so many other things of Mum's that will hopefully be a lot easier to sell as there are really strict laws over her for selling alcohol, so I still have to research more first.

That's true, many countries have strict laws for selling alcohol 🤷🏻‍♀️
