Your daughter is a bit older than my son, just a few years and yes, it is just the emotional attachment that they/and we have with the toys we played with as small. Giving away these toys is fine if your daughter agrees with it, other children can find them useful and the toys will again have their purpose, more than just gathering the dust ;)

My daughter wants some small children to enjoy these stuffed animals, she keeps two or three that she is very fond of. Before donating them our task is to dust them and leave them in good condition.
