This shouldn't be happening in the 21st century, if only there was a way for everyone to see peace as the same thing.

Humans screw up. We'll figure out how not to screw up again after we finish our current war.
At the root, however, we are still facing a genocidal foe that will actually murder, rape and abduct us if we screw up. The screw up isn't the cause the desire to murder all of us: it's just gave them the opening.
Most nights for the last 2 months, they send rockets at me and my family and we hide in the shelters which my nation insisted we build in our homes and under the missile defense system my nation built as an additional protection. They're still trying to murder Israelis (Arabs, Muslim Arabs and Jews included, they have no real way to chose who their rockets try to murder).
We don't want to murder anyone in Gaza. We will kill as many as necessary to stop them trying to murder us or murdering us again in the future.
It is trite but true: Israel does have the capability to kill everyone in Gaza. It wouldn't take long and it would result in far fewer deaths of our soldiers than what we are doing, every morning they tell us we lost another few soldiers and show their pictures. This is a heavy price we pay, not to commit horrible genocide and for which most of the world gives us no credit.

I'm in Israel. I'm 75km or about 90s of rocket flight time from Gaza.
All this needs to end and let peace reign.

I am not at all pleased or happy when it comes to politics and how division plays into the hands of those who profit from concepts like problem, reaction, solution. And I don't even want to put this on a political level. I was simply touched by a single cultural example of what voluntarism can look like, namely the example of the "Jaffa Cake" that exists and can be found in every damn grocery store on our reasonably beautiful globe (no matter what shape it is).
