Ontario is the first Canadian province to announce a vaccination card/app for citizens who have been injected with a covid-19 vaccine, saying it will be "essential" for most aspects of life. It's part of a national ID system, without using that term, and it's mandatory, without using that word.

It reminds me of a novel I read in grade school (I wish I remember what it was called - it was a dystopian future where some people were second-class citizens because they didn't (or whatever reason) have the proper ID/digital currency to get into places. I don't remember a lot of details, but I remember all of their options were print, analogue, or otherwise second-rate, like their food, libraries, etc. I wish I remember what that was called. Anyone read a book like that?
So many of the dystopian futures from science fiction have become reality!
