Valir the Son of Flames or what we called a firebender is a mage. A very versatile and heavily equipped with crowd control and burst damage, Valir is easily one of the best mage available in the game now. Usually used as a support or semi mage, Valir can do well without the blue buff while able to deal damage and land kills consistently. Watch Valir in Brawl mode as he incinerates his opponent.
Passive – Ashing
This passive is Valir’s main hard CC skill. The enemies with three stacks of Blaze will get stunned while receiving Burn damage. It might sound hard to collect three stacks on enemies, but actually it’s very easy because his first skill gives two stacks if it hits followed by them after the explosion, while his second skill can give one stack.
Skill 1 – Burst Fireball
Valir can stack the fireball up to 2 times and if the fireball hits an enemy hero, Valir will restore a fireball immediately. Upgrade this skill first and prioritize maxing it after ultimate. If you hit the enemies in the center, one charge will be restored, making this skill unlimited if you hit it perfectly. Always have at least one charge of this skill at all times, and beware of positioning since the fireball will stop upon hitting minions too. It’s advisable that you use this skill to stack Blaze.
Skill 2 – Searing Torrent
Valir’s second skill works like Flameshot but short-ranged, it pushes charging enemies away from you. Don’t simply use this skill whenever you want, use it to push away enemy that is targeting you in team fights. However, take note that if the enemy is too close to you, the flame won’t push them away. So make sure there’s some gap between you and enemy before using this skill. When clearing minion wave, you can use this skill first then use Burst Fireball to ensure damage to all minions.
Skill 3 – Vengeance Flame
This skill is like a built-in Purify for Valir. If you get stunned or slowed, use this skill to debuff. Assess the situation before using this skill. If the enemy has a lot of CC skills, don’t use it before a team fights but use it when you get slowed or stunned to keep a distance. Otherwise, you can activate this skill before a team fight as it increases his first and second skill range greatly, helping you to create some distance to keep hitting the enemies with your fireball.
