About the Curation Trail, I can say it is very beneficial.
Especially, when you have like 40-50 people that have not logged in for months in a roll, if you have each to have 100-200 HP over many people, shows a good difference.
I'm also now adding my good friends and long-term investment friends to my curation trail for comments.
In the past year, I tried to grow a community and bring more quality people and long-term holders on Hive, unfortunately, some of them came abuser as the some you are talking...
So now I think I'm changing my focus on trying to show a personal account communication and that is not necessary to create content to participate on the blockchain.
- But just engagement.

In my opinion, it's better if people vote manually, that will get them more involved in Hive and create more engagement.
I also think that it's NOT a good example that you upvote yourself with Tipu and Ecency. It can be seen as abuse.

Yep definitely more engagement comes from Manual curation.
That’s what I’m trying to show now by giving more value to comments, and showing to people that is not necessary to create posts to change a social network(habit)
As of tipu I don’t do ever more than 10% if as allowed in the system.
As of Ecency points, I’ve bought more than 60k so I’m trying to show people the best use of them….
As you said just been myself and trying to do it my way ;)

It’a hard at the beginning to explain hive to someone…
I’ve been trying for so long with my close one…
But there is the social habit problem…
Majority of people are get use to wake up with Facebook Instagram or TikTok…
They just can see that everything they are looking for will come over if not already exists on Hive.
Last winter I was doing a morning with Hive just so I can try to brake the habit of people but they are losing interest when their own friends are not here….
Anyhow All of us are doing our best to share our own way of understanding and expressing the knowledge.

Wow, it's not easy.. I think maybe people would come for the crypto. However, it isn't easy too. Engagement and relationships are key here.
Engagement is a vital part of the Blockchain. Every Friday to Sunday(weekends), I host an engagement chat in the comment section for my country people. Sometimes we get up to (300-500) comments.
I don't have enough HP or curation trail, so I just give HBD prizes to the winners or most engaged.
But I agree with you @iliyan90 and I know you're doing great with your community too.
