En la región Sierra del Ecuador hay muchas quebradas que bajan de los nevados,en las cuales bajan ríos de agua fría,ideales para la crianza natural de truchas,en los cuales con un poco de suerte se puede pescar unas bonitas truchas con caña de pescar. No es depredación ya que la trucha es una especie introducida y muy invasiva, y astuta;además son largas horas,y el número de ejemplares atrapado con caña de pescar no es muy alto.
